The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have accused Meta of normalising hate speech over a change in its fact-checking policy that came days after Meghan rejoined social media.
The Sussexes, speaking through their foundation, said the new policy should “deeply concern us all”, serving to “directly undermine free speech” and showing that the company’s commitments have “very little meaning or integrity”.
In a 631-word statement published on the website of the Office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, they accused the platform of “once again abandon[ing] public safety in favor of profit, chaos, and control”.
Typically confused. Meta relaxes control and this is seen as imposing it. Sigh.
But for any on the fence this of course clears matters up. They’re agin the changes – all sensible people are therefore in facour of them.
Clever marketing here.
What will happen now, is that people will start watching their show, just to jeer and call them names.
Bit like The Rules, who went to the top of the charts, because people were buying their records just to burn them.
They are utterly desperate: nothing is working for them. So we know what comes next: Meg dumps her current paramour and leaps somewhere else.
The only bright side will be Harry acting as a living example of why Royal protocol makes sense. And that American actresses are to be avoided!
The Sussexes, speaking through their foundation
That’s a new and polite formulation which is worth preserving, viz. ‘Madam, you are speaking through your foundation!’
Orwell really was right
Bit like The Rules, who went to the top of the charts, because people were buying their records just to burn them.
Something similar might happen to a book called The Women who wouldn’t Wheesh that JK Rowling has contributed towards. Someone claims they’re going to buy it so that they can burn it because of her:
Presumably the book burners often call her a Nazi, too!
Is “the Duke and Duchess of Sussex” something that needs an office?
Anyway, out of respect for their privacy I hope Mark Zuckerberg ignores them.
“normalising hate speech over a change in its fact-checking policy that came days after Meghan rejoined social media”
Oh, that’s why Facebook has changed to allow hate speech – because Meghan’s back on it? Makes sense.
And there I was thinking it was to do with the incoming President of the United States; I should have guessed there was something far more important behind it.
One of my regrets is that I won’t be here to see the Sussex Scam fall apart. Anyone can be obnoxious but they have refined it to an art.
