Or, you know, not perhaps, and yet. A big Only Fans star, making a fortune (a McClaren when only 21 is a fortune). And:
He’s had guys who message him through OnlyFans every day for over two years, guys who tell him they’ve just put their kids to bed, that their wives are in the other room. Sometimes he feels bad for them; knows they’re probably lonely and sad. But that’s the game, right?
CJ gets it, because he does the same thing—the vast majority of his own social interaction is mediated through the internet too. He’s only had one serious girlfriend, and that was long distance. He told me he’s not good at talking to strangers face-to-face. He’s not used to doing it that way. Instead, CJ subscribes to other OnlyFans creators, and sometimes messages with them, even though he knows he’s probably not messaging the actual person.
“I know in the back of my head that I’m talking to some middle-aged man” at a subcontracted agency, CJ told me. But he’s okay with buying into the fantasy. Yes, when he messages these people it’s more for companionship than sex—but in that way, CJ told me, “it’s still porn.”
50’s pulp short story. Bloke has a job running a “girlfriend experience” or summat. Guys come in, take a pill, interact with a computing/robotic thing, think they’ve been to see their girlfriend. Can’t recall why it’s set up that way. Population worries? Dunno.
So, he knows it’s all a scam because he runs the place. But he’s diffierent of course. His girlfriend is real. In another city, obviously. So, he goes over to see her, gets to where she works, thinks, well, why not take one of the pills…..
I am staggered to learn that being a porn star, no matter how well-paid, does not lead to fulfilment.
Mind you, it occurs to me that a great way for an OnlyFans performer to get more ‘buy in’ from his audience would be to pretend that he is desperate and lonely and unsatisfied, just like his customers…..
You’re going to have to work really hard to convince me that a guy *with a wife in the other room* is actually suffering from lack of human contact.
Its not isolation, its goonerism.
Reminds me of a former colleague, who confessed that he’d slept with a prostitute on a business trip to Amsterdam. “It was just because I was lonely,” he said. He was away from his wife and children for 48 hours.
“Its not isolation, its goonerism.”
Arsenal fans are generally quite sad people
Whilst listening to the wireless in the evening and doom-scrolling through Instagram ( yes I know I should be reading a book ), I am often confronted with some female trying to look winsome, with an utterly incomprehensible message on the screen.
There was even one last year who had a really serious message, but used the same technique.
( They are in decline now, I think that I have blocked enough to influence the algorithm ).
It bothers me. I wonder what I have misunderstood about these females’ marketing method. The idea, obviously, is to draw me to an Only Fans or Patreon account. But all I think is “WTF ? Go away !”
There must indeed a lot of sad goons out there, if they feel compelled to follow this tosh.
Sounds like a Philip K.Dick story, but I can’t find it.
I believe it’s a McLaren. A car manufacturer whose sole purpose seems to be making Ferraris look reliable and cheap to repair.
I wonder how many “big stars” OnlyFans actually has. I know several women are OF creators. The largest amount of money I’ve ever seen on their accounts was $90. And that’s the semi-retired pr0n star who actually has content out there to lead punters to her OF content. However I suspect they’re OF’s bread & butter.
I also suspect any article like this of of being OF promo material. The need to create the illusion there’s money there to be had. Has the guy who wrote this actually got collateral on this CJ character? Is he sure he really exists? He could quite easily be looking at an illusion. The house like everything else is rented. He’s looking at a flow rather than a stock. The CJ character is created to bring in the money.
Incomes in such things almost always follow a power law. 1% make 90% of the money, 10% make 99% and so on….
Indeed Tim. But OF, like the others, needs the “big earners” 1% to draw in the 99. They’re part of their advertising.
In the same way the “big earners” need the “lifestyle” to draw the payers.
So I remain deeply suspicious of the entire enterprise. How much of it is created illusion?
It’s like that ‘burg up the road from me. Marbella certainly has its wealthy. But not that many real ones. Most of which you’ll never meet. Has a lot of people try to appear wealthy. It’s how they make a living.
I’ve read that the average OF income rarely rises to three figures per month.
