Oh. Rightie ho then

The BBC has admitted to serious and unacceptable flaws in the making of its Gaza documentary, saying public trust in its journalism has been damaged.

Gaza: How to Survive a War Zone failed to disclose that its child narrator, a 14-year-old boy named Abdullah, was the son of a Hamas official.

In a statement, the broadcaster also revealed that the boy’s family had been paid for his involvement.

Hoyo Films, the independent production company, knowingly misled the BBC about the child’s links to Hamas, but the corporation said it should have carried out its own checks.

Just a thought, but how much independent journalism has there been out of Gaza? So when a fulkly formed and – so I’m told – rather well made documentary pops up then…..

Corporation says trust in its journalism has been damaged

It’s a bit rich for the bbc to say that now about an official Hamas documentary which simply echoes years of “journalism” by the likes of Bowen, Doucet and Guerin.

Is this the BBC that primly whined censorship whenever it was embedded in British forces? Surely not!

I doubt this has damaged any trust in the bbc or its journalism. Does anyone to the right of Corbyn have any trust there to start with?

That would be difficult

There isn’t one second of “film” that comes out of Gaza without the Hamas seal of approval. That is why the documentary should not have been made. It was always destined to be Hamas propaganda.

Where was BBC Verify? Looking for the “far right” under their beds probably.

Nobody at the BBC checked it because it was telling them what they already wanted to hear.

I’m puzzled that anyone would believe a word said by either side in Gaza.

I’m even more puzzled that anyone would believe a word said by the Beeb. It’s TV: everything is dominated by propaganda, lies, and omissions. Why would the Canaanite civil war be any different?

Empty bullshit. They won’t change, and they’ll revel in it for as long as they’re funded by government force.

If Hamas is classed as a terrorist organisation by UK Gov then someone/s at the BBC should go to prison.

What decnine said. Everyone knows if you piss off Hamas, you won’t get back in and get some juicy news footage. I don’t believe this “we was duped” thing. The BBC know this as much as everyone else. More like, caught.

It’s not as if the Beeb hasn’t got loads of “previous” for this sort of stunt. You only have to read “Guido’s” blog to see the number of times that so-called “independent experts” are political activists or trade-union mouthpieces…

Oddly, for some unaccountable reason, they’re always from the left.
