That’s quick

Pro-Palestinian activists were planning a demonstration through London as the Oct 7 massacre was taking place, it has emerged.

At 12.50pm on the day of the 2023 terror attack, while it was still ongoing, the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) notified the Metropolitan Police that they intended to hold a protest.

A PSC organiser told police over the phone that the group planned to march through London on the following Saturday, Oct 14, a freedom of information request revealed.

At least it wasn’t before…..

Some of those Jews at the kibbutzim returned fire, though, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there was argument and backchat as families were being slaughtered.

‘“Muslims fear backlash from tomorrow’s train bombing,” as a great Australian wit whose name eludes me wrote.’

Tim Blair.

Like all the best political satire, what was intended as a warning instead became a road map.

Dossing down at my place on that Saturday 14th, because he could not afford one of his own, was a then 37 male relative whose job was what I think is referred to as a zero-hours contract. And on that morning he told me he was heading to central London to attend a free Palestine demonstration. I ought to have gobbed on him, a nice big jellied bolus, but I was so non-plussed that all I could think of to say was, sarcastically “I did not know it was unfree”. I mean, I literally could not compute what the fuck he thought he was protesting about or why, in the circumstances, he thought that a free palestine demonstration was the appropriate response.

For general interest Mr Deveril. At what time did your friend hear of the demonstration & by what means?

I think he got it from facebook. He told me about it at about 1030-1100 on 14th. I recall I was watching one of those Saturday morning food shows.

I wouldn’t call him a friend. The best that can be said for him is that he’s a dopey prat.
