I’d forgotten Maggie

Now that she’s a Baroness as well as a Dame and also the widow of a knight she’s, what?

Dame Margaret, Lady Hodge, Lady Hodge

No?

The extra titles cannot disguise the underlying fact that she is a shameless hypocrite.

Labour’s Margaret Hodge accused of hypocrisy over tax affairs

Former head of public accounts committee and a critic of avoidance received shares in family company

or as Guido reported:–

Hodge claimed in a grilling by Michael Crick earlier this month that “I am a tiny, tiny, tiny shareholder”. Her direct shareholding is 1.26% which, given that Stemcor paid out £4,519,000 in dividends last year, means she received some £56,939. That shareholding alone is worth £1.8 million. Hardly a tiny amount.

I remember using the old bat as an example of why my parents shouldn’t vote Labour anymore, as they had done for the previous 40 years…

A bit like the old Herr Professor Doktor …

I had a friend with a doctorate who had a wife with two, so she was Frau Doktor, Doktor, Doktor … or so we joked.

My wife once pointed out that the aforesaid chum’s wife was the only person she’d met who genuinely did have two doctorates. A couple of others who’d made the claim were, she reckoned, lying. And lo, in the case of one of them, so it proved. Scandal in the university: she was sacked. Mind you, she laid it on a bit thick: she also claimed to be a “concert-grade pianist”. Yeah. yeah.

The title of “Labour MP” alone is rather a giveaway.

Actually, it’s quite simple: Lady Hodge. Her Damehood is a lesser title and her status as dowager Lady Hodge is by courtesy. When it’s time for the full monty, its Dame Margaret , the Baroness Hodge of wherever, acronyms…
