The NHS will test all children who believe they are transgender for autism under new plans seen by The Telegraph.

Every child referred to a gender clinic will be “screened for neurodevelopmental conditions” such as autism and ADHD under new guidance, to be introduced in the wake of the Cass review.

The review, by paediatrician Baroness Cass, found that the mental health conditions were disproportionately common among children and young people with gender dysphoria.

See, see, the establishment is claiming that trans peeps are mad, see!

Which isn’t the case at all. From observation there’s a case – not a proof, a case to be made – that trans is, in at least some people, a social infection that affects autists more than others. Therefore, before slicing and dicing it should be sensible to actually check this.

So what will the screening consist of and, far more importantly, who will be carrying it out and evaluating the results.

Well there’s another route to being able to claim that autism is rising uncontrollably and it’s all to do with Chinese computer games, or Global Boiling, or something.

Did Baroness Cass explain why the NHS’s marginal quid should be spent on this problem rather than all the other health problems that the population suffers from?

Autism generally becomes manifest at two or three. So if it’s undiagnosed until adolescence it probably isn’t “real” autism but some other more subtle mental condition.

It would be more useful to investigate the possible causes behind the. explosion of autism and ADHD that we’ve seen in the last thirty years. (As for the transgenders, just say no to surgery on the NHS,)

Trannies are mad. What’s the problem?

But, but, but, Philip, is the rise in autism real or just a case of grade inflation, or a bit of both?

It’s a serious question though whether there are any people around who are both skilled enough and honest enough to answer it I don’t know. Obvs we can’t trust the medical trades. So whom can we turn to?

It’s possibly just a variation on the hysteria that also manifests as mass fainting episodes among groups of schoolgirls.

dearieme @ 9.44, according to the US gov., rates of autism have skyrocketed and it’s nothing to do with any changes to the way in which it is diagnosed. What was 1 in 10,000 is now 1 in >30, and for boys in California, it’s 1 in 12.5…………

US children will have had around 70 ‘shots’ by the time they hit 16.

One study from 2010 found that giving monkeys the same vaccine regimen as kids affected the area of their brains that deal with social and emotional development.

Vaccines cause transgenderism? That’s a new one. I thought it was female hormones in our pure, pure water.

dearieme, Addolf
It’s possible that fifty years ago a lot of autism was misdiagnosed (sic) as mental deficiency. But since then the rates of autism – and profound autism is unmistakeable – have increased enormously, so it’s not grade inflation.

People have suggested plenty of possible causes. The adjuvants in child vaccinations, vitamin deficiency in pregnancy, etc. The social costs are huge and the parents almost always divorce in the end, so it’s surprising there isn’t more effort put into research. There might even be a Nobel in it somewhere.

I think you could track the rise in diagnoses of ADHD and ‘autism’ to the rise in availability and level of welfare payments for such people (and probably more importantly) children.

Tim, what do we call a mental illness that gets removed from the list of mental illnesses – not through any new clinical evidence whatsoever, but for woke reasons?

From Scientific American:

At the dawn of 2017 the Danish parliament struck a blow for transgender rights and became the first country to remove trans people’s classification as “mentally ill.” In this New Year’s Day move the government took official action to destigmatize transgender individuals, separating them from any association with words such as “problem,” “disorder” or dysphoria.

“Destigmatize” isn’t a medical term. We can “destigmatize” schizophrenia all we like, but people still suffer terribly from schizophrenia.

Words matter, says Linda Thor Pedersen of rights organization LGBT Denmark. “It was very important,” she says, “that terms like “incongruence,” “disturbance” and “problem” were left out of the code title used by the country’s medical community to track care. The change, she says, “makes it a code instead of a diagnosis.” The old system made indirect discrimination possible, she explains; job applications were sometimes rejected because of a “diagnosis.”

The change, although currently limited to Denmark, represents a new phase in the evolution of views on being transgender. An earlier change occurred in 2013, when “gender identity disorder” was dropped from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5), U.S. psychiatry’s bible for diagnosing mental illness. A new condition called “gender dysphoria” was added to diagnose and treat those transgender individuals who felt distress at the mismatch between their identities and their bodies. The new diagnosis recognized that a mismatch between one’s birth gender and identity was not necessarily pathological, notes pediatric endocrinologist Norman Spack, a founder of the gender clinic at Boston Children’s Hospital. It shifted the emphasis in treatment from fixing a disorder to resolving distress over the mismatch

“In a fit of cowardice, we decided to stop trying to help people who think they’re Napoleon or Jesus and give them a Bonapartoplasty to make them resemble a shortarse Corsican instead.” – trick cyclists

Spack compares the DSM-5’s new definition as similar in effect to its 1973 declassification of homosexuality as a mental illness. University of San Francisco human rights scholar Richard Johnson agrees. Although gay people certainly knew they were not sick, he says, the move did have an effect. “It has allowed the gay population in the U.S. an opportunity to pursue life on their own terms,” he says. “This will also be the same situation for the transgender population living in Denmark.”

Naively and short sightedly, they decided that this would just be Gay Rights 2.0. But homosexuality is a sexual orientation, “transgender” is not.

We didn’t end up seeing hordes of men decide to try being gay when they decriminalised it and later promoted it to being socially equal to married life. We have seen hordes of men and teenage girls – particularly people on the autism spectrum – adopt a “transgender” identity after the media started aggressively promoting it.

Transgender is a social experiment that has failed. We tried accommodating the demands of tranny activists and found they’re incompatible with normal life. At the moment they’re all crying about “0.1% of the population” being oppressed etc, they’re just a helpless tiny minority you see. But just 5 minutes ago, when they were riding high off institutional support, the story was that transgender is the future and you’d better oblige them by fundamentally restructuring society or go to jail, bigots.

Yours in mental health,

Steve x

No doubt ADHD, dyslexia and SEND are over-diagnosed because there are obvious advantages: drugs to be consumed by skank parents, keeping one’s job as Minister of Health, more time in exams, etc.
But autism is a serious condition and any extra bennies are trivial compared to the cost (of transport to often distant clinics, for example) and grief.
This may be the exception that proves the rule. Here the state does not do enough welfare.

‘…trans is, in at least some people, a social infection that affects autists more than others…’

I’d say there’s a case that it’s the opposite. As an autistic person I know that I never will fit in. It doesn’t matter how much effort I put in, how much I mask, I’m always going to be somewhere in the uncanny valley.

So perhaps if you’re already an outsider there’s just less holding you back.

Dearieme: “Well there’s another route to being able to claim that autism is rising uncontrollably and it’s all to do with Chinese computer games, or Global Boiling, or something.”

More to do with the …rather extreme… expansion of the “Autism” “definition” in the past 4 decades.
Unless you’re a Model Citizen, you will have at least one or two aspects of the Embuggerance that are nowadays associated with it.

The fact that it gives schools and parents access to Special Bennie pools doesn’t give Incentives at all, of course..
Not that that ever helps the kids involved… but hey….

Maffski – my experience of people on the autism spectrum is they’re more honest than others. They assume people use words to communicate and seem to struggle to understand the existence of people who use words to dominate. They instinctively grasp the importance of being earnest, but can be tricked by selfish giants.

So they’re easy prey for a deeply sick and cynical culture where everybody we’re supposed to trust as an authority figure is a shitbag liar. If school says transgender is a real thing, the autistic are less likely to realise they’re being deceived. Like the children in Pinocchio lured to Pleasure Island by the worst people in the world (actors), we owe a duty of care to our train-loving brethren to prevent them being turned into jackasses.
