Léo Lins was found guilty of inciting intolerance with a 2022 stand-up routine that made fun of black people, indigenous people, fat people, gay people, Jews, evangelicals, disabled people and those with HIV.
During the performance, which was uploaded to YouTube and has more than three million views, Lins told a 4,000-strong crowd in Curitiba, in southern Brazil: “Prejudice, to me, is a primitive thing that shouldn’t exist any more. Just like indigenous people. Enough already.”
Wearing a bright red shirt and yellow trousers, he warned the audience that he “jokes about everything and everyone”.
He told them: “What show could be more inclusive? I even hired a sign language interpreter just to be able to offend the deaf-mute.”

I chuckled at the gags quoted in the article. And I like Ricky Gervais and Jimmy Carr’s stand up routines, so make of that what you will.

Here’s my theory on all of this. We used to have lots of offensive stuff that was either hard to notice or you couldn’t find if you were told about it. Like there was no evidence of Chubby Brown. No videos, no audio. It was word of mouth. You told other lads about him. Or the whole PUA thing. It used to just be some event in a room. And if you missed it, you wouldn’t know it. Television and newspapers didn’t do this stuff. They were sanitised.
The internet happens and it’s all on websites and forums and YouTube and easily offended ladies now know about it rather than living in blissful ignorance. One lady can easily link it to another lady. Everyone thinks the world has gone toxic, when people were just as gross in the past. “Oh, boys discuss how to get into girls knickers”. Yeah, they always did. Sat in the park. And if a woman came near, boys shut up. But now, it’s in a forum you can see. The offended ladies start screaming at government to do something, or are in government and doing the banning themselves.

Originally, we had democratic, majority rule. 20th century devolution brought us minority rule. Bill Clinton’s Americans With Disabilities Act even required accommodation of minorities. Employers MUST hire people who can’t do the job, AND hire another person to do their work for them.
Now, we have devolved to third party control. People who didn’t go to the show have control. People who watch a video have control. People who, if they didn’t like what they were watching, could have simply stopped watching, have control.
The totalitarian state levying criminal penalties on someone because third parties want control. The courts should have asked them, “Who the fuck are you? Why is this any of your business? What is your standing in this case? How can you have damages from an event you didn’t even attend?”
