Isn’t this just the problem?

The IMF refused to change its rules and the role went to a Frenchwoman, Christine Lagarde, who was well connected politically but not a trained economist.

Even the technocratic roles get subsumed into politics at some point…..

The same people who insist on rule by “experts” think it’s fine to put completely unqualified people in charge of everything. c.f. Reeves.

Otto has essentially made my point for me. Since Lagarde is not actually implementing any policies with an eye to ‘the economy’, but to the tightening of the noose around the necks of EU citizens, and the enrichment and entrenchment of herself and her cronies, it doesn’t really matter whether she knows anything about economics.

I saw obituaries and Lagard and assumed it meant her obit. I could only hope.
