New motto

Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.” Martin Luther King Jr said

Also this:

Every generation must find employment for its duller lights. In the 1960s a grifter could become a guru. Going back further, there were exorcists. Today there are diversity officers,

Napoleon’s columns were very effective employment for these, too.

I am firmly of the opinion that there exists, somewhat similar to the Child Catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, an agency that identifies those adults completely incapable of independent thought, reason or originality and are unable to contribute anything meaningful to society. They are rounded up, corralled and then sent to work in Local and Central Government, and various HR departments where their witterings gain approbation from similar Lost Souls.

I can tell you for a fact that in corporate Japan, the utterly useless end up in the Planning Department.

@ Chris
There doesn’t need to be an Agency: just as driftwood ends up on a beach and not half-way down a waterfall these people will end up in those jobs that don’t require original thought. Heaven help us if one of them was tasked with designing the safety system for a western nuclear power plant!

In the 1960s a grifter could become a guru.

They usually became “reverends”, like MLK.

False. Polonium-210 is more dangerous.

Going back further, there were exorcists

Dumb dumb dumb. There are still exorcists. It’s not a grift, because it’s not a moneymaking opportunity. People don’t pay exorcists, they just hope they don’t leap out of the bedroom window. Btw if you ever speak to an exorcist (talk to people, it’s brill), you’ll probably find he didn’t really believe in it either, until his first exorcism.

Also, how are you going to exorcise a demonic spirit without an exorcist? Follow instructions on a Tik Tok video? It’s like thinking you don’t need a registered engineer to fix the boiler.

No wonder we’re up to our balls in demons and grifters.

“sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.”

That certainly sounds like the “active/stupid” classification that is the bane of organizations everywhere.
