Oh, how excellent

In 2021, Google set a lofty goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2030. Yet in the years since then, the company has moved in the opposite direction as it invests in energy-intensive artificial intelligence. In its latest sustainability report, Google said its carbon emissions had increased 51% between 2019 and 2024.

New research aims to debunk even that enormous figure and provide context to Google’s sustainability reports, painting a bleaker picture. A report authored by non-profit advocacy group Kairos Fellowship found that, between 2019 and 2024, Google’s carbon emissions actually went up by 65%.

So my new air conditioning is deffo worth it then…..

A report from a ” non-profit advocacy group ” is totally reliable and unbiased. Gotta be.

Mr Marazzo has missed a key tactic, but one which smacks of colonialism. Create an NHS. Much greater control. More efficient assisted dying. Easier dissemination of propaganda-sorry, information.

Maybe though in the Canadian context controlling people’s ownership of housing, vehicles etc is a pretty good stab.

““It’s not sustainable to keep building at the rate [Google is] building because they need to scale their compute within planetary limits,” said Sugerman. “We do not have enough green energy to serve the needs of Google and certainly not the needs of Google and the rest of us.””

We almost certainly do, because the effect of Google, Amazon, Netflix, Microsoft and eBay are overwhelmingly to cut energy use. The energy to power Google Maps completely for a year is far less than the waste of going the wrong way, getting caught in a jam etc. Amazon gets one person to do a load of deliveries for an estate instead of 20 people driving to town. Netflix saves on the production and distribution of physical media and driving to Blockbuster video. Microsoft Teams means not driving to a meeting. eBay means you can buy a thing second hand more efficiently than classified ads. Uber improves the efficiency of selecting taxis for users.

It’s a whole different scale of use of running a car for 5 minutes and running a computer for 5 minutes.

If you’re actually serious about the environment, it’s factories, heating, laundry and travel that matter. Factories are generally going to be optimised. You can’t really do much with heating except build more terraces. Laundry is about as good as it can be, other than running it on an industrial scale where you drop it in and it gets done. About the only area that’s really open to improvement is travel. And none of these people ever say that we should shut down the choo-choos no-one uses that are worse for the environment than cars.

Normal People knew Google was blowing smoke. Normal People didn’t care. Normal People DON’T CARE NOW.

It was Google PR fashioned for a certain audience. Maybe that audience cares now. I find them creepy, so I’m not bothered if they are bothered. They live their lives disappointed.

“Google’s own data makes it clear: the corporation is contributing to the acceleration of climate catastrophe, and the metrics that matter – how many emissions they emit, how much water they use, and how fast these trends are accelerating – are headed in the wrong direction for us and the planet,” said Nicole Sugerman, a campaign manager at Kairos Fellowship.

You’ve got to pick a pocket or two, boys!

Now is the time to take action. The battle for racial and economic justice has a powerful ally: the internet.

At Kairos, we run creative and impactful campaigns that allow users to see themselves not just as participants in the digital realm, but as co-creators and constituents who have the ability to move platforms and ultimately win stronger regulation of the internet. All of our campaigns are designed to ensure that technology and the internet are in service of Black and brown liberation and not used to uphold systemic injustice. Through our campaigns we’re building a world where tech works for everyone.

This is why the Germans got fed up with them the last time.

Actually, if you read their stuff they’re actually very planning to ban people from growing their own food. Apparently it’s too water intensive and something something pests and diseases.

Of course, you will be far more compliant when they can turn off your money and electronically bar you from the state food store.

I – Of course, you will be far more compliant when they can turn off your money and electronically bar you from the state food store.

Well, they killed Luxembourg and Liebknecht for very good reasons. There’s only one type of good socialist.

This is also true online. Queer people have been essential to how the early internet came together and have taken tools that have not always been designed for them and transformed those tools into resources without compromising the values that keep people safe.

The people who run internet platforms make decisions that make queer communities less safe and less able to connect. Privacy, content moderation, and protecting LGBTQ+ people and other marginalized communities has also never been a concern for Big Tech companies. And their business models facilitate extreme hate speech and massive amounts of data collection that are used against queer and trans people.

Apparently sick perverts invented the internet (true).

Huh? What does where you stick your cock have to do with typing? Unless you type with it? Or did, and have had the chop, so now you can’t type? And what about if you never had a cock to start with? How did you ever type?

“Apparently sick perverts invented the internet (true).”

But apparently they made tools that have not always been designed for them. How remiss, or perhaps altruistic of them instead to have made tools useable by the vast normie majority. Or perhaps normies also invented the Internet, and were possibly in the majority then too?

Pray tell me, what prevents “queer people” from inventing their own Internet tools? Does their choice of cock placement render them incapable? Do such tools as Grindr not exist?

Pray tell me, what prevents “queer people” from inventing their own Internet tools?

Kairos is the usual scam where they set up a far-left “charity” or “foundation” to soak up grants and donations, lobby sympathetic governments and corporates for more donations and lefty bullshit like a self-licking ice cream cone, and then use some of the money to train a cadre of communists to attack the host nation like a autoimmune disorder:

Speaking of liars,

The Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention and Human Security has published a red flag alert regarding trans and intersex people’s human rights in the UK.

All of the actions described above fit neatly into the 9th Pattern of Genocide: “Denial and/or Prevention of Identity.” As we have repeatedly stated over the years, genocide does not only manifest in the killing of an entire group. In the case of trans and intersex people, genocide is often perpetrated by making it impossible for individuals to exist as their true selves. The erasure of a group from public life is a step towards an attempt to erase that group’s existence, which is the very definition of genocide.

…No denial or omission in law can erase the concrete reality that trans and intersex people have always and will always exist. Attempts to erase them as a class constitutes an intent to commit genocide.

Genocide sounds pretty cool when they describe it.

I should think intersex people are thoroughly cheesed off by the trans lobby. They have their own particular identity issues and now they have a load of mental hairy blokes trying to speak for them.

Steve

TG – literally the only time we ever hear of intersex is when a tranny is trying to justify why he should be in the women’s toilets.

You never hear about them in any other context, ever.

But also note trans and intersex people have always and will always exist. Attempts to erase them as a class constitutes an intent to commit genocide

Can’t be genocide if they will always exist, can it? But if I did a genocide, I’d do it properly so there’d be no annoying survivors.

The definition of genocide has expanded somewhat of late, Steve. Can now include mild disagreement with someone on X. And didn’t that frock wearing pervert often mentioned on here claim he was being genocided as an individual by mis-pronouning?

Bboy – Does this also include white people, Steve??

Um, no, bigot. Whiteness is inherently colonialist and racist and imperialist and atomic power and indoor plumbing and a lot of other cool things. Check your privilege.

Tim – I actually know someone intersex.

I mean them no disrespect btw. The same – although they would probably refuse to believe it – applies to the trannies, who I just mainly feel sad for. But yeah, the only context in which we seen intersex discussed is by the trans rights people, amirite? I have never heard of an intersex rights lobby. They’re used for rhetorical purposes by people who are not intersex, and only ever for rhetorical purposes in support of trans ishoos.

BiS – The definition of genocide has expanded somewhat of late, Steve. Can now include mild disagreement with someone on X.

I’m glad you didn’t deadname Twitter. X, tho, is still the worst branding decision since Dylan Mulvaney Bud Light. Or fAGuar, who I understand sacked their advertisers, lol.

Yes, “genocide”. Gaza is allegedly genocide, when I’m not sure it even counts as decimation. White, Afrikaans speaking farmers being targeted for rape, murder and looting and not necessarily in that order by a seemingly well organised paramilitary organisation/political party the government claims is nothing to do with them? Now please send our whites back for punishment?

That’s not a genocide, because when the first Dutch settlers arrived in 1652 with their racist wheels and roads, they did racist things and made money? Idk, I zoned out of the lefty bullshit and hypocrisy around that one when Trump got the collective American Left to say Refugees Not Welcome Here. That was beautiful.

John77 – There will always be survivors because some will still be in the womb when you do your Eichmann imitation

Eichmann, Schmeichmann, I say. Genghis Khan knew how to do a proper genocide. You know how many people complain about Genghis Khan? None, because he killed and possibly also ate those naysayers. They built a big golden statue to Genghis in Mongolia. They loove him.

Or, Uncle Joe Stalin, who successfully persecuted a plethora of ethnic minorities, many of whose numbers have never recovered in the territories of the former USSR? He never gets any credit in the genocide game, but if Stalin decided your ethnic group was disloyal…

By the end of the deportation, not a single Crimean Tatar lived in Crimea, and 80,000 houses and 360,000 acres of land were left abandoned. Nearly 8,000 Crimean Tatars died during the deportation, and tens of thousands subsequently perished due to the harsh living conditions in which they were forced to live during their exile.[4] After the deportation, the Soviet government launched an intense detatarization campaign in an attempt to erase the remaining traces of Crimean Tatar existence.

Tbf Stalin was generous in his homicidal attentions.

Gamecock –Gamecock was there at the origins of internet, ~1985. He didn’t know any queers involved with it. Could have been some, but the were appropriately closeted.

No doubt, but the problem with these activist groups is they don’t produce the things they bitch and moan about wanting – more brown tranny representation in IT (which is already perfectly happy being brown and not tranny thank you saaar.)

They produce professional “activists”, i.e. troublemakers, for the US Democratic Party (their donate link takes you to Act Blue)

The bios above of their “alumni” are not the CVs of serious people who know how to do anything useful in the real world. This is a very expensively learned helplessness, these people have Masters degrees, ffs, but if you left them on a deserted tropical island for 48 hours they’d be killed by seagulls.
