In equally joyous news:

Just announced: the UK’s most famous libel firm, Carter-Ruck, is being prosecuted before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal for recklessly enabling a $4bn fraud

It’s astonishing how reckless Carter-Ruck was – likely causing $$$ more to be lost to fraudsters

A firm whose name is never pronounced as written.

(There used to be local solicitors Few and Kester. You can imagine the vulgar pronunciation.)

When are we going to line all the lawyers up and machine gun them into a mass grave?

It’s not joyous news at all, they are being prosecuted before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal which can impose sanctions like fines, suspensions, or striking off the roll. Joyous would be an Old Bailey trial resulting in long custodial sentences for the fraud their legal activity abetted. A fraud serious enough to put the chief perpetrator on the FBI’s top ten most wanted list. Do normal crime and punishment rules not apply to the lawyers?
