I suppose just counting the new cars on people’s driveways is SO last century…
ps These spam comments are sometimes quite funny. According to Google translate that Arabic one is about the education system in Morocco. I wonder what their purpose is.
Given the current state of AI that probably means that criminals are safe and the rest of us can expect to be treated as criminals, so nothing new.
On the subject of AI, I see that claims are being made that ChatGPT 5 doesn’t hallucinate as much as previous models.
Ottokring
So it would seem.
Personally, I think HMRC should ask their inspectors to do a Stasi, go under cover and seduce the attractive you g secretaries of tax cheat directors. Yes, that’s what this middle-aged dreamer thinks they should do.
HMRC needs all the artificial intelligence it can get. The human variety sadly lacks a few billions synapses…
It’s just desperation to get hold of any money they can to keep the scams going. They’ll be sending out goon squads to look down people’s sofas for spare change next.
Otto, there is a woman who lives round the corner from me in a small terraced house. Every few months or so a brand new BMW X5 or similar with personalised number plate pops up outside her house. The number plate is the name of the ‘hand car wash’ establishment around the corner…..
Greedy little shits who see someone else they think has money, and think it should be theirs.
Addolff,
No surprise that they can afford a new BMW on a regular basis, the car wash businesses near me can charge up to £150 for a spring clean.
My workplace is currently toying with AI.

But then that’s not the point. The point is that HMRC are using the latest tech, and seen to be doing something.
Mr Womby @ 10.11, the lady lives alone and I hazard a guess that it’s her son who runs ‘the operation’ ™ Python M.
Not that I know how it works, but it looks how I think a money laundering operation would look.
“the new cars on people’s driveways”: a pal once pointed out to me that on one housing estate he could tell which houses had been bought by the residents and which were still council-owned. The latter had more cars per house.
Addolff,
Does the numberplate read “Vercotti”?
