Francesca Albanese, UN special rapporteur for the occupied Palestinian territories, posted video of the burning Alma and said it indicated a drone attack.
“Video evidence suggests a drone – with no light so it could not be seen – dropped a device that set the deck of the Alma boat on fire,” she wrote on social media.
Ms. Albanese is not regarded – in some quarters at least – sa a wholly disinterested witness.
For some of the media realise that they’ve been bitten – from the NYT report on Israel blowing up a hospital, which wasn’t blown up and asn’t by Israel – a misfiring Islamic Jihad rocket hit the carpark instead – to the starving kiddies which turned out not to be starving but ill for wholly other reasons.
Media tricks are manufactured these days. So, something happns, is it a media trick?

Video evidence only suggests a drone if you ignore the video evidence of a crew member causing it by firing off a firework…
At what point in the video is that?
Something suspicious to me… look at the floor before it happens. Some of it is black. So, my guess is firework + they put something flammable on the surface to make it burn longer. Or, it’s black because they had to give it a few different attempts before getting a good one for video.

And Israel attacking a ship in a Tunisian port? Potentially killing Tunisian civilians, bringing a fairly unfriendly nation into the conflict for the sake of a bunch of hippies? Please.
Israel wouldn’t attack a bunch of noisy hippies in a foreign port.
Not when they simply have to wait for them to inevitably try to run the blockade and have ample opportunity to collar said hippies at leisure, with reason.
Some of them, like the Tuna Goblin, for the second time… So one may hope they give her an extended stay this time and show her that FAFO actually exists, and *does* apply to her as well.

Reading that triggered a momentary disconnect for me. I saw “Albanese” and thought it was the esteemed PM of Australia. It sounded like something he would say, which didn’t help.
Well, no one is going to apply to be UN special rapporteur for the occupied Palestinian territories unless they are a frothing Jew hater.
However, most of them are still reporting propaganda as fact: starving children, deliberate attacks on food stations and, of course, the (world’s least effective) genocide.
There were some UN global population statistics published the other day that shows that “Palestine” is out-breeding Israel. Some genocide.
It looks as if an idiotic crew member on the boat set off a flare. “Idiotic” because the flare was launched straight up and it, predictably, came straight back down. Into the boat.
Having seen it done – it’s quite easy to launch a parachute flare down rather than up, especially in the dark…
It’s not unknown for them to go off in the firer’s hand as well, casing them t be dropped on to the deck. Or at least that was the warning we were given when shown how to use them.
Given the events that occurred in Doha yesterday, I think its safe to say if the Israelis wanted GT et al dead, they’d be dead right now.

Anything closer is either too dangerous, or wouldn’t host a “civilian” fleet with their stated purpose.
That purpose in and of itself makes things tricky… Will you host a fleet with the deliberate stated purpose to break a military blockade of a country you have nominal friendly ties with?
Could be construed as “hosting a hostile force” , even if it’s not formal military….
Just googled the distance from Tunis to Gaza, and it’s over 2,300km in a straight line, also noted the three biggest vessels noted as being in this flotilla Adara, Estrela Y Manuel and Alma are going to be using a lot of marine diesel. And that isn’t carbon taxed.
