Infamy! Infamy! You know the line…..

Labour is in a fight against “global network of rightwing billionaires” who want to undermine net zero for their “vested interests”, Ed Miliband has said.

The only reason my plans aren’t working is because the billionaires have it in for me.

He is set to announce a target of creating 400,000 new jobs in clean energy, doubling jobs in the sector by 2030

How super! Doubling the labour cost of the sector.

On Wednesday he will pledge to create a “fair worker charter”, which will mean that companies which receive public funding will have to guarantee fair pay, flexible working and access to unionisation.

The final rules could include enhanced pay, bonuses and sick leave, flexible working and contracts, as well as new access for unions, new rights for offshore workers and workers on the boards of publicly owned bodies such as Great British Energy.

That’s very fun as well. Who will be the first to say, on sight of the government chequebook, “‘N’ you can fuck off ‘n’ all”?

If billionaires were really out to get him he’d be at the bottom of a canal attached to some very heavy weights. So come on based billionaires, do your public duty and be popular at the same time!

‘Global Billionaires’ are the new Jewish Plutocrats, hiding in the shadows, pulling the strings…

The Climate Change Conspiracy rails constantly that it is being threatened by the forces of Dark Money, despite having the backing of some of these billionaires and governments, when the real resistance comes from blokes in their spare bedrooms looking at temperature charts, when they should be watching Strictly.

The Grauniaf used to say something similar when it was asking for donations from it’s gullible readership.

Hm, so socialists do understand a business model. Create 400,000 jobs, most of them sitting around having a fag, but make it union only. Union gives money to the Labour Party to make it union only so the union fat cats can earn £200,000 a year. Labour Party gets rich. I suppose Dale is feeling overworked doing it all on his own…

There aren’t THAT many billionaires in the world that you wouldn’t be able to identify those wreckers by name and shame them. If it was true.

Is it Paul Homewood? Tallbloke? Andrew Montford? Maybe that Canadian chap? I’ve met most of them and they didn’t seem to be billionaires at all. Maybe in Weimar marks?

Oh, forgot to say, this is about the party leadership. Bribe the unions, excuse the failure to deliver becos wreckers.

I will say this is unusually perceptive from him:

‘He said Labour would only beat Reform by offering its own more compelling story of why working people’s lives felt so difficult. “They want to say that the problems of the country can be put down to migration, diversity, net zero,” he said.’

Every single issue we face can be bracketed under:

  • Diversity
  • Net Zero
  • (I do usually use the additional word ‘unlimited’) immigration

Of course it’s all Thatcher and Reagan’s fault:

‘“The truth is the reason why people’s living standards are stuck, why growth has been so low, and public services are on their knees, is … trickle-down economics from the 80s, which left us with huge inequality and austerity in the 20s.”’

So I *don’t* have a mobile phone that cost 35 quid and is several million times more powerful than my ZX Spectrum that I had in the 1980s. I *don’t* have access to 400 TV channels. I *don’t* have a car that cost £800 and does almost 60mpg. Thanks for updating me.

When we exported our industries and our emissions, we also exported our growth. It was, and remains, government policy.

Mrs Thatcher increased the “real” (adjusted for RPI inflation) income of the median earner (so working class because the working class were an overall majority) faster than any Labour government in the history of the UK [obviously Harold Wilson increased the income of miners and members of other public sector unions faster but that was at the expense of the (more numerous) workers in the private sector].
If trickle down economics did not work, what did?

I spent my morning hike listening to Kathryn Porter on the Triggerpod and it was frightening: not the consequences of net zero stuff which I’m well aware of, but Brown’s legacy civil service independence bill which stuffed the Tories.

in effect the civil service can ignore ministers and pursue their own policies, which they did and they are in Miliband’s ideological camp. Apparently they deliberately misinformed ministers and ran them ragged like it was a script from Yes Minister. The bullying claims were around ministers trying to assert their authority.

The only upside is that Labour is now being hoist by their own petard.

If Reform is to make any difference she reckons the only way is to politicise the top echelons of the civil service like they do in the US.

PS another scary tidbit, nobody in government is responsible for energy security.

. . . but Brown’s legacy civil service independence bill which stuffed the Tories.

You’d have been better off watching than listening, as you could have seen Constantin’s incredulous look when she suggested the poor ickle Tories had no idea they were being hoodwinked for 14 years and only found out after. This did a lot to undermine her contributions up to then; what else was she being disingenuous about?

. . . another scary tidbit, nobody in government is responsible for energy security.

There is literally a Secretary of State for Energy Security. The full title is “Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero” and the current office holder is Edward Samuel Miliband. This may seem insane and contradictory (correct) but he is the one in government responsible.

If that’s a blocker, you just undo the law. You start making heads roll.

The Tories are liars. They mostly like the status quo and the status of being politicians, and they pretend other people stop them. All that “well, we have to do this because of the EU”. Right, but we have a veto on the council of ministers, so why wasn’t it being used? If there’s some civil service law stopping something and you have a majority in parliament, why aren’t you scrapping it.

Gove got his free schools, because Gove wanted it to happen. He didn’t care that much about upsetting the teachers, the unions. He had thought about it. He put in the effort.

It’s why I’m 100% Reform. Not that I think they’re the best thing since sliced bread but permanently destroying the Conservative Party is important. We need a real party of small government that is driven by people who want that.

How much has Dale Vince* given to Labour?

(*his name isn’t his fault of course, but for some reason I never trust people whose name sounds equally plausible the other way round)

Vale Dince?

Your comment made me look at his Wikipedia page. Doubtless William Connolly is one of the editors, but anyway.

A couple of things stood out.

In 1991, Vince saw his first windfarm (“I thought, either I can carry on by myself with the windmill on my van, or I can get into the big stuff”) and, in 1995, he founded the Renewable Energy Company, which eventually changed its name to Ecotricity. In 1996, he launched his first wind turbine supplying “green electricity”.

How did a hippie living in a van do that?

In 2010, Vince became a major shareholder of Forest Green Rovers FC, and three months later was appointed club chairman. In February 2011, Rovers players were banned from eating red meat for health reasons, and a few weeks later the sale of all red meat products was banned at the club’s ground, leaving only vegetarian options and free-range poultry and fish from sustainable stocks.

Vince introduced a number of different eco-friendly developments at the club including the installation of solar panels on its New Lawn home ground, the use of a solar-powered robot grass mower, and the creation of the world’s first organic football pitch. In September 2015, Vince revealed Forest Green were using a player recruitment method similar to the ‘Moneyball’ model that had been initially used in baseball to sign players by using computer-generated analysis. In October 2015, Forest Green became the world’s first all vegan football club.

In 2021, the team became the first in the world to play in a football kit made from a composite material consisting of recycled plastic and coffee grounds.

The United Nations has recognised Forest Green Rovers as the world’s first carbon-neutral football club and it was described by FIFA as the “greenest team in the world”.

Yeah yeah yeah.

In 2024, Forest Green lost their Football League status after suffering two successive relegations.

Ha ha ha. The trouble is that these silly cunts will do this to the country, not just a shit football team.

Labour is in a fight against “global network of rightwing billionaires” who want to undermine net zero for their “vested interests”, Ed Miliband has said.

Ed projects his own low class on billionaires. He has no understanding of rich people.

Plus . . . the only global network of billionaires is Schwab’s Davos Wannsee Economic Forum. To the left of Stalin. Stating in public they are going to kill 7,000,000,000 people.

He is set to announce a target of creating 400,000 new jobs in clean energy, doubling jobs in the sector by 2030.

He doesn’t say who the employers will be.

On Wednesday he will pledge to create a “fair worker charter”, which will mean that companies which receive public funding . . . .

Oh, okay. It won’t be private employers.

Is he going to announce a government takeover? Else, I can’t find anything rational in his word salad.
