Lordy, how they hugged themselves

When they thought through this:

The surge in the use of disposable face masks during the Covid pandemic has left a chemical timebomb that could harm humans, animals and the environment, research suggests.

Billions of tonnes of plastic face masks created to protect people from the spread of the virus are now breaking down, releasing microplastics and chemical additives including endocrine disruptors, the research found.

As a result, the very equipment whose use was intended to protect people during the pandemic now poses a risk to the health of people and planet, potentially for generations.

“This study has underlined the urgent need to rethink how we produce, use and dispose of face masks,” said Anna Bogush of Coventry University’s Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience, the lead author of the study.

WOOT! We got one! Trivial issue of no regard that no one else has thought of yet that we can big up into a lifetime of papers and campaigning! Quick, Xers, find the vegan champagne!

You get rid of these plastics perfectly safely by burning them, a process the greens have spent years working to stop us doing. They themselves are the cause of any micro plastic issue.

“Well we certainly didn’t see this coming!” said said Anna Bogbrush of Coventry University.

Norman, I believe Anna Bogbrush is a Professor of Practice at the Institute of Studies…

Wonder what happened to all those testing kits, whether positive or negative.

Was it straight to landfill?

But if it saves one life!!!

Im heartened to know that when I bought a mask exempt lanyard for 2 quid that I was actually saving the planet

The very same people who forced masks on those who agreed to wear them – even when the boxes they were sold in bore on them in large type the legend: DOES NOT PROTECT AGAINST VIRUSES -can now make yet more millions via this method. Genius, really.

But that wasn’t real mask mandates!

Hmmm… so the things leach microplastics and endocrine inhibitors in stagnant water…

Interesting enough they did not study the release during forced ventilation in a moist environment.
I wonder why…..

But… so they did Napkin-Fu, added the numbers in true Solanum style and came up with total estimated amounts.
Which they forgot to mention would be distributed all around the globe, mostly encapsulated in landfill, and in countries who actually know what they’re doing would have been burnt and converted in “Green” energy.
So the actual release into the environment would be something to the tune of a smidgen of bugger-all.

Research™ by mental toddlers..

There appears to be a lack of communication between the Little Hitlers who mandated masks, and the Little Hitlers who want to punish us for wearing them. Often the same people, which is puzzling.

Same people

different neurons

C’mon, man. The research only ‘suggests.’

For the Western world in which we live, we threw the mask into the bin, they were carried off and buried in land fills. End of story.

Endocrine disruptors in a landfill are no threat to anyone. Gamecock advises Frau Bogush to keep her snout out of landfills.

I think they have a centrally-approved list of scare words. A jam buttie could probably be called an endocrine disruptor.

Hmm. Billions of tonnes? A quick Google search returns around 2-6g for your standard disposable mask. Surgical quality masks are heavier but the majority of people weren’t using those day to day. Let’s say 5g. So that’s 200,000 per tonne, or 2×10^14 masks for one billion tonnes. Assume heroically that every man, woman, and child on earth was using them, we get 20,000 masks per person. I’m pretty certain I didn’t buy that many.

Ah but wait, plural billions. So at least 40,000 masks per person.

If I’ve screwed up my numbers I’m sure someone will correct me.
