The vicious bastards, eh?

The test to confirm biological sex is a very important step in ensuring this is the case. We are saying, at elite level, for you to compete in the female category, you have to be biologically female. It was always very clear to me and the World Athletics Council that gender cannot trump biology.”

They’ll be telling us the 5 ft 2 flyweight judo girlie cannot take out the heavyewight boxer next, you mark my words. Where will Hollywood plots be next?

That’s not a valid comparison. It has to be same sport as has been amply demonstrated by the numerous mediocre cuckoo males overwhelming the lasses.

All the best people assured me that there was something called a ladypenis. Surely they cannot all be wrong?

Isn’t the right test to just drop trou? Isn’t that female or male? The thing with “gene tests” is that the most successful women in a lot of sports are going to be at the more masculine end of the spectrum. Which probably explains the high percentage of lesbians in women sport.

Castor has female external genitals, so the trouser drop won’t work.

Castor is where it gets tricky. She has a rare genetic disorder (and we should be sympathetic), but is it fair for her to compete against ‘normal’ women? But then Olympic class athletes are rarely ‘normal’ – look at Usain Bolt. I think the decision should rest with the governing bodies of each sport. If they want to limit competition to ladies with less than a certain level of testosterone, that should be their call.

Right, so she’s a woman then. She can compete as a woman.

What’s her blood testosterone level?

This is a pretty good proxy for how much muscle growth you’re going to get.

It’s one of the many reasons why steroids are banned.

Only if she hasn’t got a “Y” chromosome tucked-away somewhere in “her” genome.
