Zack is radical. He appears to be so economically. He is most certainly on the left politically. He is more than willing to be critical of Labour and Reform, although I hope he spends little time on the Tories, since they now appear to be something from the past. And, on climate, I strongly suspect that he is going to shout much more loudly than has been the case before about the need for radical action to address the failure to tackle climate change, which is now all too clearly the policy of Ed Miliband and the Labour Party, much to my disappointment.I can also say, with certainty, that Zack knows what my economics are all about, because he has actively reTweeted them, for example, over quite a long period of time. Indeed, that is how I first became aware of him.
I cannot be sure as yet, but there is the prospect that he might be the first UK political party leader who not only really knows what Modern Monetary Theory is, but actually thinks it explains how the economy works. I am hoping so. If so, he really does represent a break from the past. Caroline Lucas always acknowledged MMT to me, privately, but never had the confidence in her ability to discuss economics to do so publicly. I am seriously hoping that the times are changing.

My favourite Green dickery at the moment is they want to increase the taxes the government gets from greyhound racing ‘cos that sort of gambling bad and should be taxed more like games of chance, while also wanting the tax raised to be zero (‘cos they want greyhound racing banned).
Whilst the Green Party remains my public enemy #1 I am less concerned about them these days as the impact of their policies is now widely understood so they have zero chance of getting tangible power. As such their leader is somewhat of an irrelevance. Also they seem to appeal to the same voters as the hard left of Labour and the Corbyn Sultana “fruitcake” party who are so ineffective they can’t even come up with a party name. Splitting that vote three ways is great thanks to first past the post voting though the greens and fruitcakes will undoubtedly form an anti-Reform tactical voting coalition and hardcore Labour voters will unofficially join in too. Fortunately I can’t see them ever tactically voting for the “bastard Tories” in a two horse race between Conservative and Reform, but it’s heartwarming to imagine their mental contortions were that an option.

The simultaneous change of first name from David to Zach is harder for me to get my head around. “He also changed his first name, selecting Zack in homage to a character from the novel Goodnight Mister Tom, as his stepfather was also named David.” Is it so bad having the same first name as someone else, especially if you don’t share the same surname?

Well given he has been grifting for the better part of three decades and has no pension provision I do wonder if he must not have some hitherto unknown vice which is quite expensive. There seems to be no other reason for a man of near 70 to behave in such a truly desperate fashion.
I will say he has always been fairly hot on the Greens and Climate Change, partly because both creeds are about control of individual freedom, to which he has always been extremely hostile. I recall him describing Caroline Lucas as ‘a hero for the 21st century’ which given to me she’s probably a good deal worse than many of those who were in the dock at Nuremberg that gives you some idea of the kind of person you are dealing with.

I have every sympathy for Graham Linehan, JK Rowling and others from the Left who’ve been marginalised and monstered by their former fellow travelers.
But…
Where did they think they were traveling to? Conservatives (actual, not Tory) did try to warn people that pomo progressivism was progressing towards something monstrous. The signs were there in the 90’s. Did they think it would stop with gay marriage? Progressivism is a hungry monster, and our society will never be “socially just” enough to satisfy them. It’s an endless struggle session, because it’s an ideology for deeply unhappy people to project their mental problems onto society, which will never be “fair”.

That’s funny because these people hate heroes, and the Left is totally hostile to the concept of heroism. They snigger at it, it’s a joke to them.
