Well, there’s a thing, eh?

Rachel Reeves abolished this in April by bringing in a new system that, the chancellor said, would bring in £34 billion of tax revenue over five years.

However, analysis by the consultancy Chamberlain Walker casts doubt on her ability to raise that amount of tax revenue by calculating that 1,800 non-doms have already left — 50 per cent more than a forecast made by the Office for Budget Responsibility.

Mobile money doesn’t sit around to be taxed then, eh?

The Left think their only job is to steal money from rich people to make them poorer. In the public sector your performance at your job is largely irrelevant, you get paid whatever you do and it doesn’t depend on the end user’s satisfaction. Gordon Brown proved that politician’s actions do not affect their own situation. So he sold our gold reserves in a very stupid way by announcing beforehand that he was going to flood the market and thus suppress the price. The fact that he was totally ignorant of economics didn’t prevent him becoming Chancellor. So Kweir must have thought Rachel from Complaints would be fine…

Curious that she’s the only member of the government competent to do her job. She’s produced more complaints than any other chancellor in history.

Did any of her measures actually raise the revenue they were supposed to. Schools closing and their pupils going to state schools don’t produce any VAT. Pensioners triggered by winter fuel payments applying for pension credit. Farmers (and don’t forget other family businesses taking measures from suicide to incorporation to god knows what to avoid an inheritance tax which provides lttle per annum anyway? Non-doms? Energy taxes which just get wasted on NZ? How much of this raised any money?

It’s almost as if people aren’t quite as stupid as politicians think they are…

The Seen and the Unseen: leaving is one thing, not coming back after a spell abroad is another and, presumably, much harder to identify.
