Finally

Stop promoting natural birth ideology, midwife courses told
Despite a litany of scandals, universities are still pushing ‘normal birth’ over medical interventions. Now our investigation has prompted the regulator to act

Entrenched bureaucracies – or if you prefer, that long march through the insitutions – can be terribly difficult to dislodge. Even when it’s moron trying to return childbirth – that most dangerous thing a woman ever does – to it’s natural rate of being the biggest cause of adult mortality other than the diseases of old age.

Why anyone let the cretins do this is one thing, stop[ping them is another. And we really must stop them.

Surely the patriarchy can’t tell wimmins how best to deal with birthing?

I fucking had to or my wife and baby would have died. Emergency caesarean after 18 hours of fruitless pushing during which the vast, barge-arsed, contemptuous, entitled, and lazy African midwife accused my petite Japanese wife of not trying. They were both saved by an efficient and businesslike South African surgeon. Pale bloke, obvs.

Midwifery has been captured like most other institutions.

When I was in my twenties the buggers were already being referred to as “madwives”. And that wasn’t yesterday.

Doctors refer to “midwitches”.

Yet in the 1950s when I was born, nearly all births – including mine – where I lived were at home, attended by the district nurse, and the doctor popped in a few hours later to check mother and baby.

Within my lifetime, rural blacks in South Carolina didn’t even get birth certificates. Kids were born at home with zero medical involvement. Nor government involvement.

In fact, that is how it was when my mother and father were born in rural Kentucky and West Virginia. All this medical birthing stuff is new to mankind. A 20th century invention.

The infant mortality rate in the UK in 1950 was approximately 30 deaths per 1,000 live births. In 2023, the UK infant mortality rate was 3.9 deaths per 1,000 live births in England and Wales. So the allegedly patriarchal ‘medicalisation’ of birth saves lives!

Probably means we have 26 mongs per 1,000 births to fund for their lifetime.

It’s nothing to do with this. CS vs natural birth is a fashion thing – both go in and out of fashion, the cycle is about 8-12 years. The last great stampede towards vaginal delivery was led by the “too posh to push” sneer.

Got to be careful here. Anecdata is bad usually.
35 years ago a push for increasing home births was statistically justified. Medics tended to intervene too early risking surgical complications and other sequence. Nowadays I’m not so sure. Medics are a little less inclined to intervene and a significant proportion of midwives appear undertrained and even careless.

Sequelae not sequence.

There’s actually nothig wrong with natural childbirth…
May hurt like something we blokes cannot imagine past a solid kick in the nuts, but they’re ….y’know…. *built for it.

And most births in the hospital *are* Natural. Just with the Backup to catch things when they go Wrong…

The actual dangerous bits are the pregnancy itself, and post-partum care, lack of which cost mosl women their lives..
The actual birthing …… not so much….

Unless, of course, you’ve got a pelvis built almost like a male. Which is pure good-old brit bourgeoisie inbreeding at work….
But you’re not supposed to comment on the lack of actual arse on women, doubly so for the ones afflicted with Feminism, so…..
