Cybersecurity, hunh?

India’s telecoms ministry has privately asked smartphone makers to preload all new devices with a state-owned cybersecurity app that cannot be deleted, a government order showed, a move likely to antagonise Apple and privacy advocates.

Now, not that I know this, but I would suspect that a very wide definition of security is being used here. The ability to check who is using naughty words perhaps. Voicing badthink.

OK, one part of that is not true. It’s not that I do not know this and merely think it. Given how governments work I do know this….

“Which cannot be removed”

This is one of the things you should simply let them run with… On the principle of “Sure… Go Ahead..”.. You *know* they’ll miss the sarcasm…

It’s not as if there’ll be a firmware/OS flavour available in every Corner Repair Shop within a week…
Even if they go full hardware, only then it’ll take about a month to reverse engineer and work around it.

So yeah…. sure…. Do try…

I suggest you release an alternative OS distribution for the iPhone if you think it’s so easy.

I never take Fruity™ products into account.

Anyone willing to pay the premium to be part of their little walled garden is welcome to anything they get.. Good and hard.

They’d be happy with that as they can then make it an offence to tamper with the offical app, or to be in possession of a phone without the official app, which allows them to have legal cover for persecuting their enemies.

The best way to stop cybercrime would be to disconnect India from the internet.

I like pretty much every Indian I’ve met, however I’d support this if removing them from the phone network happens too.

Friend of mine told his gran “if the caller has an Indian accent, it’s not your bank just hang up”.

She never got scammed again.

I used to like em, before I was forced to work with them. Now I’m starring in “Stop the Planet of the Jeets, I Want To Get Off”

“I hate every Jeet I see, from Abdullah to Ravi Z, no they’ll never make a sahib out of me.”

Trump isn’t going to like India telling Apple what they have to do.

Huge tariffs pending.

Lots of countries tell Apple what to do:
– EU told Apple they couldn’t keep the Lightning connector
– China told Apple the phones couldn’t have AI or ChatGPT
– Japan told Apple the phone has to make a camera noise when you photograph people’s underwear on the train
