What was your childhood home like?
We moved into a prefab in 1948, when I was six, on a rodent-infested street [in Tredegar, a town in south Wales].
Calling the Welsh rats like that…..

Of course, we had it tough….
So says the man who now bathes in Chateau de Chastelet every day and all on the taxpayers dollar.
And his entire, disreputable family.
A calumny, rats are actually clean and intelligent, social creatures…
Their urine isn’t…
Or their fleas…
Nor their droppings.
And look at him now. A millionaire many times over, with every fucking cent of it extracted under duress from the poor bloody taxpayer.
Aren’t all streets rat infested?
Only the mangy ones… The big burly healthy ones aren’t, or they wouldn’t have been big burly healthy ones…
Other than that *any* wild animal may well carry parasites that may or may not see us as a host.
Rats being biologically *very* close to us ( not *quite* pigs, but close..) the risk to that is….significant…
Especially since our soft “semi-sterile” lifestyles hasn’t given us the immunological weaponry any *wild* animal must have to survive.
It’s not that rats are “infested”. It’s that we aren’t *suited* to deal with whatever they have to deal with on a daily basis anymore.
Where I grew up the prefabs were well looked after; the front gardens were fine enough for even small boys in short trousers to notice and approve of. Why couldn’t that be so in South Wales too?
“….and of course Glynis was an MEP, which came with substantial additional costs…”
And a massive salary, enormous pension and all the generous expense claims you could think up…..
Greedy bastard.
“Free of income tax, old man, free of income tax.” At least Harry Lime was an honest crook.
When he went face-down on that beach he should have fucking stayed there. And as for glynis…
He did all right, mores the pity

Apart from his leeching off us all, his major sin was to rescue the Labour Party from the lefty loonies. If he’d failed then it would have splintered into many warring factions like Magic Grandpa’s lot are starting to do. That would have meant no Toni Bliar, no one-eyed Jock and no Sir Kweer (aka Brave Sir Robin).
Now that’s interesting. Wouldn’t have associated rats with prefabs. Why? Two reasons would be food source or shelter. Difficult to believe prefab tenants would be profligate in the first & the prefabs I was familiar were set on concrete pads.
So referred to the ever helpful https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki Prefabs_in_the_United_Kingdom
Seems Knockio lived in an AIROH Four section, all aluminium, lorry delivered, quick assembly.
Second order effects.
Thing like that’s going to have a void under it. They were building rat hotels.
