Is this even a crime?

One accuser said that Maxwell told her that Epstein had to leave his house but that there was a friend staying who she could massage. During this encounter, this associate allegedly offered her money if she engaged in sex.

The woman alleged that she did so and that this friend paid her money. A “prosecution memorandum” dated 26 January 2021 and signed by assistant US attorneys from the southern district of New York described this encounter and said that when the woman’s lawyers showed her a photo of the disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, she identified him as this man. The names of the US attorneys are redacted.

Man offers woman money for sex. Woman agrees. Now, true, laws differ around the world. But under English law at least there’s nothing illegal about this at all. Assuming the lass is of age of course. And she’s not a victim either – it’s a voluntary transaction.

Why are the names of the attorneys redacted?

But is Randy Andy (real name Andrew Mountbatten Windsor) mentioned? I thought I’d try a little refrain along the “real name Stephen…”)

I suppose it depends on which state they were in at the time…

I seem to remember episodes of Cagney and Lacey where they had to dress up as hookers to catch punters. Mind you I dread to think how much Tyne Daly could have legitimately charged.

Imagine the outrage if a genuine under-age girl (and no I don’t mean a 17 year old irrespective of the local legislation), no matter how willing, was to be identified.

And yet white English pre-teens being abused en-masse need to shut up for the sake of diversity. When’s that London abuse enquiry going to take place Mister Mayor? This year, next year, sometime or never.

Exactly this. I get the strong impression that Epstein wasn’t into children. He liked them fully-formed. Mid-teens. Young, fresh, virginal putative Labour voters.

Our diverse friends, on the other hand, will apparently fuck anyone over 10, white and female out of sheer contempt.

He seems to have been an ephebophile – an adult with a sexual interest in mid-to-late adolescents, typically aged 15 to 19. Certainly not a paedophile.

I think the one conviction that he did have involved a 16 year old girl.

Of course, being a paedophile isn’t actually a criminal offence – any more than being a psychopath is. Epstein couldn’t have been convicted of being a paedophile as there’s no such criminal charge in the US. What you get convicted of is what you do.

The term Paedophile’ is being thrown about by all the newspapers and columnists about this case, it really infuriates me.

What a surprise! And that’s also the expressed preference of the majority of Brit middle-class, middle-aged men seeking paid-for sex. So one could hazard would be the preference of the majority of contributors to these comments.

Various Labour accounts on X have been savaged, largely due to the complete failure to do anything about Grooming gangs, as the always excellent Norman points out.

The revelations about Mandelson don’t really surprise me at all – it does get me thinking that given his prominence in the rise of New Labour it might be good to use his obvious guilt as a trojan horse, pointing out that legislation like the HRA and Equality Act were brought in ‘by a friend of Jeffrey Epstein’. Those who will scream blue murder when they are repealed (as they have to be in all reality) can be smeared as potential pedophiles themselves , especially as most oppose a Grooming Gangs inquiry and are fans of Big Trans, which is the equivalent of support for child molestation.

Probably is illegal in the States, but often they don’t seem to have shaken off their puritan origins.

From Wokipedia:
”Nevada is the only state in the US where prostitution is illegal”

However it then continues:
“A 2008 report estimated that 15–20 percent of men in the US have paid for sex”

Seems to be one of those things that’s more about public outrage than actual morality.

Then how come CSI is full of dead hookers ? I mean they seem to litter the streets, dumpsters, hotel rooms. You can’t move for them.

Prostitution is basically a non-crime. As in, the odds of getting caught and the cost of punishment aren’t even close to a deterrent to doing it. It’s generally a $500 fine in New York. You can pay for that with half a dozen blowjobs. As long as it’s rare, it’s not going to stop someone. And it is rare, because the police have a lot more important things to do than dealing with some skank pleasuring a guy.

It’s like smoking weed is illegal in the UK. You could technically go to prison for 12 months, but no-one does. You pay a £90 on-the-spot fine if you get caught. If you only get one fine every few years and like smoking weed, it’s not going to stop you smoking weed.

As opposed to thinks like drinking and driving or armed robbery where risk/punishment outweighs the value so most people don’t do it.

I think you have it the wrong way around, prostitution is illegal in all US states EXCEPT Nevada, where it is legal in some parts of the state (not in Las Vegas, not that you’d realise that by the number of people standing on street corners trying to give you cards advertising ‘escort services’).

I got propositioned by two different girls in Vegas. It wasn’t direct – they didn’t come up and say “fancy a fuck?” – but it was obvious what they were after.

Never rely on Wiki.
Prostitution is not illegal in Nevada. Nevada has state licensed brothels. Quite famously so. It is, however, illegal everywhere else in the state.

This morning’s Mandelson revelation looks serious:
Mandelson gave Epstein advance notice of a €500bn bailout from the EU to save the Euro”
That looks like an insider trading conspiracy, and that’s the sort of thing the powers-that-be take very seriously.

The powers-that-be take it very seriously if you’re not inside the in-group. If your name is Pelosi, not so much.

Alan Dershowitz was on Kait Borsay’s Times Radio show (7-10pm) last night. He indignantly refused to describe most of the women who serviced Epstein as ‘victims’, pointing out that many of them were around 25 and went back repeatedly. Kait was (of course) horrified – “we don’t know what form of compulsion they might have been under”. Alan pointed out she was denying these women any agency of their own.

If Epstein was using women to get people to willingly or unwillingly divulge the sort of information Mandelson appears to have been supplying then he’s going to have treated those women very well. The cost : benefit for treating them well and getting the information is going to be off the scale.

Obviously “married” Mandelson didn’t need pussy-tempting. Simply the money and bling must have been enough. What a fucking toad.

DT says Mandelson could lose £31k-a-year EU pension over Epstein emails
Deep, deep joy.
