Health is the capacity to heal, by which I mean the ability of a person, a community, or an ecosystem to move towards wellness. It is not a static state of perfection, nor the mere absence of disease. Health is a process; a direction of travel. It is a verb, not a noun.
Leave aside the linguistic violence there. If it’s a process, a never ending one, then there’s no limit to the NHS budget, is there?
Is he trying to create an alternate dictionary? Has he done aardvark yet?
Cat : Not a dog
Dog : not a cat
Amusingly, Spud and Interested agree on the definition of ‘conspiracy’…
“Aardvark: Never hurt anybody.”
Health is a process; a direction of travel. It is a verb, not a noun.
I health
You health
He/she health’s
We health
You (lot) health
They health
What would be fun is to ask him if verb is a verb or a noun.
Your health, my health, their health. Guess which one is your business? Or my business?
To be pendantic, he’s not wrong that health requires maintenance, and maintenance is a process, but the examples he gives all include built-in self-maintenance systems. And, incentives. A healthy society would require a minimal health system. One can see the conflict of interest.
Then there’s the usual bollocks he talks: in the quoted sentence he implies “wellness” to be a static state, so merely substitutes it for “health”.
“Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise”
Early to bed and early to rise, loses your bird to other guys.
Or as Getty put it, “Early to bed, early to rise, work like the Devil….and strike oil.”
That’s all fine, until NHS shows up.
BTW, when reading Spud’s poetry, it helps to imagine bongos playing.
A compelling argument can be made that central heating is a main contributor to health in the UK, particularly by preventing cold-related illnesses and deaths in a country with damp, chilly winters. Ed Milliband’s net zero ideology is destined to make central heating both unaffordable for many and frequently non functional too.
I do feel that if God had meant us to suffer from global warming, He wouldn’t have invented the air conditioner.
But of course I live in Brisbane. Perhaps I’d better buy one, one of these days.
I would argue that the covid vaccines are the driving force behind health (or the lack of it) in the UK today. I’ve lost count of the people I know, or who are friends of friends who have mysteriously gained serious health conditions since 2021. Cancers, heart attacks, strokes, weird muscle wasting illnesses, skin complaints, nervous systems issues, digestive issues. And they all have started since the vaccine rollout.
Plus I keep reading about people in my local paper who just suddenly drop dead, out of the blue. There were 2 unrelated cases recently, in the same weekend, just dropped dead suddenly at the same supermarket. The obits in the papers are stuffed with middle aged men suddenly keeling over.
But hey, I’m sure its all entirely coincidental.
Bullshit is a verb, not a noun. It is a process, a means of voiding the bowels by sending a flow of dark matter that ensures a direction of travel towards wellness.
By his own definition, Spudman has mental health issues.
