Difficult one, really

The first is that the politics of care is the most important idea that I am working on at present. Thomas put this very well in our discussion yesterday. He said he did not understand what I was talking about when I began discussing it in the videos, which he saw being recorded, but over time, he now thinks it has become a critical issue for the future of politics. He is persuaded that it is what I should be working upon. As someone also put it on YouTube this morning, this does appear to be important to them as well. They noted that it appears to be neither socialism nor social democracy, and they want me to define precisely what I mean by the politics of care, and they think it is important that I do so. I tend to agree and now think that this is a higher priority than writing disparate blog posts. It is where I will now begin to put most of my effort.

As there is, in fact, no core idea there, how can it be defined? It’s just a streaming consciousness of error to fill up YouTube videos. There’s nowt else actually there.

the politics of care

He’s such a cunt, isn’t he? What can that possibly mean? “Care” is the allocation of resources, even if they are only human time and emotion. And if they’re being allocated on “care”, they’re not being allocated elsewhere, are they?

It’s just redistributionism dressed up with feelz. ‘Cept Spud decides where the “care” and the money goes, doesn’t he?

He’s also asking for Free Labour:

Finessing that mechanism may require that I be the person who does the blocking but, contrary to all the rumours spread by the trolls, the number of people blocked here is not high. On average, it is less than one per week, and given that existing spam filters remove many more wholly inappropriate comments, the number of post rejections that will have to be made by moderators will be quite low. If that task is spread among a number of people willing to review comments whenever they come to the site, this should not be too onerous. It may also be that moderators will get the right to admit people to membership when they are obviously making appropriate comments, but that is something yet to be decided.

He’s blocked over 25,000 on Twitter and 50,000 on his blog – ‘not a lot’ my hide.

Where do those statistics come from, V-P?

I did have the backup for the Twitter numbers at at least 10K (and that was a decade ago!) and the amount of times various people posing as North Koreans or Soviets from here have tried to point out his errors and he has put in a ‘holiday for the trolls’ – I’ll put some links on (not direct as our host doesn’t like to directly link) regarding his ‘holiday’ posts.

Thanks – I have no idea where those figures might be available.

This was arguably the most telling of the paragraphs actually – clearly money is a definite consideration with both the effect of his policy recommendations as well as his alienation from academia now beginning to bite.

Secondly, overall, it is clear that YouTube is our most successful outlet these days. I know the blog is very close to my heart and a lot of people like it, but the growth in YouTube following indicates that this is the place where I reach more new people, and this site tends to be read by older, more dedicated, already persuaded people, and therefore, its impact on the process of change is lower. If my priority is to create change, and it is, then YouTube is my most important outlet

I find myself drawn to the politics of don’t care. Or to put it another way, mind your own business. You are responsible for what happens to you. Don’t have a victim mindset.

“Care” is a weasel word isn’t it? A noun & verb with two totally different meanings regularly conflated.
Thus perfect for politics.

He practically has his own Spudspeak dictionary by now.

Communism is a hard sell. So commies act like they care to trick people into accepting communism. Commie dicks like Murphy have a river of sob stories where they appeal to pity, as if they actually care.

‘The politics of care’ just cuts out all the bullshit stories. The commies just declare they care. That’s it. Done. Why write all the silly stories acting like you care when you can just declare you care?

They assign a value to the word it doesn’t have. There’s little doubt the KKK “cared about” blacks. They even “took care” of a few with the aid of a noose. (reportedly)

“When I use a word,’ Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, ‘it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.’

’The question is,’ said Alice, ‘whether you can make words mean so many different things.’

’The question is,’ said Humpty Dumpty, ‘which is to be master — that’s all.”

Lewis Carroll, mocking communists before they really existed as such

Also (arguably) inventing Postmodernism, the philosophy Marxists never realised they needed. Without that, “false consciousness” can’t work.

Correct. Focus groups tell them that ‘care’ is good. So they use the word. In commie dick Murphy speak, it means ‘good.’ That’s all. Just like democracy, justice, equality, etc. The great thing about it for the commies is that the hearer will assign his own meaning to it, and assume the commies embrace the hearer’s definition.

‘Politics of care’ translates to ‘politics of good.’

“We commies are the good people.”

I reckon Spud’s politics of care could be even more convoluted and tedious than Xi Jinping thought. And translate into English about as well.

Just as I felt comparisons between Murphy and Saddam Hussein were unfair to the latter, the same would apply with Xi Jinping

In which Ritchie professes to be exhausted by all that scrounging:

As will be obvious to anyone who watches my videos, this morning’s short video, which was recorded yesterday morning, reveals that I was not, and still am not, my usual self.

During the course of yesterday, I had to discuss the fatigue I suffered over the weekend. As a result, I was read the riot act by Jacqueline, my close friends, and my sons, who told me I cannot keep doing this. The unambiguous message is that I need to take better care of myself, which I have not been good at.

As Jacqueline has put it, interoception is not one of my great strengths, and I have persistently treated my body as a tool to carry my brain around.

I’m sure he could carry his brain around on a teaspoon.

I am reminded of a quote from the Book of Proverbs:

‘Do not those who plot evil go astray? But those who plan what is good find love and faithfulness.’

‘Keep smiling, keep shining
Knowing you can always count on me, that’s for sure
‘Cause I tell you, that’s what friends are for
For good times and the bad times
I’ll be on your side forever more
That’s what friends are for’

You might notice your interoception skills may not be working as well as expected if you experience any of the following common symptoms:

That did make me chuckle! Even someone in his own employ who is a direct relative struggles to understand the point he is trying to convey and yet the UK government has to genuflect and build its entire policy platform around the concept?

I’m unusually angry with Enoch Powell and Thatcher for the mass closure of mental hospitals to be honest. Albeit with the recent death of Louise Fletcher flying him to Oregon for the necessary treatment wouldn’t have the same resonance.
