Projection, eh?

Joe Biden warns that Donald Trump will try to ‘steal’ midterm elections
In a rare public address, former president said US is experiencing ‘dark days’ and urged Americans to vote

Trying to tighten up ID systems at the polls – say – would be stealing. Obviously, as it would lower D chances which is the definition of stealing to be used.

Is he still alive? Not relating to one of the main Democrat voting blocs then.

I’m still amazed that Obama, or whoever was really behind it all, pulled it off. Making the old wreck say something now is really showing overconfidence. Don’t push your luck…

When discussing US politics a change in spelling is advisable. Because of the racism inherent in DEI we should refer to it as woKKKe. To remind everyone of their history we should write about the DemoKKKrats. And call their symbol a donKKKey.

I’ve always liked the old joke “My mother always voted Republican. When she was alive.”

Does the US have compulsary ID? ID for voting is simple in a country with compulsary ID, as shown in the UK it gets very messy when there isn’t compulsary ID and you have to legislate for a whole slate of allowable ID.

However, this misses the main issue which should be the requirement to prove citizenship before getting on the elector roll in the first place. It’s no good every voter showing ID if half of them shouldn’t be allowed to vote in the first place. In the UK the only requirement to prove citizenship is when applying for a postal vote, and that’s by the weak-ish method of providing your national insurance number.

No, we do not have compulsory Id. But we have state issued ID and driver’s licenses serve as ID and 90 percent of the adult population has one.

I thought voting was a state issue anyway? The Founding Fathers not wanting to get too federal and pissing off the states was the reason, AIUI.

Does a driver’s license indicate citizenship, though? Any ID requirement is a step in the right direction, but only a step.

Someone should remind Biden that we have the most secure elections in the world. ‘Fortified’ is, I believe, the word;)

The problem with voting in the USA is not that lots of people vote while ineligible – it’s that they count the votes using voting machines. When you count manually this ensures that subverting the result requires subverting lots of people, making it very hard to do while keeping it secret. Using voting machines there’s a bottleneck to attack.
