So, err, why would they claim that?

Last month, the African Union adopted a motion put forward by Ghana to label slavery and colonialism as crimes against humanity.

Issa mystery, eh?

This month, the motion will be tabled at the United Nations, with demands made for redress.

Oh, that’s why. Ho Hum.

I’ll donate some money. Well, I’ll buy one of em a volume of Britannica. W. Then they can look up Wilberforce and get on their phones to their mates and tell them they’ve already had it, not only in money, but blood, sweat and tears. In fact, I think I’ll just give it to the Wannabeanigger, Lewis Hamilton and he can read it out on telly. or get some flunky to do it for him…

With Starmer being absolutely clear as usual* and Hermer deciding which international laws & judgements we simply must follow (hint, our own laws don’t count) while King Tampon and the Archbishopess of Canterbury nod sagely in acquiescence our already bankrupt country may soon be taking out the mother of all high interest credit cards in order to look good, in reality stupid, on the world stage.

Better kowtow to Mauritius first though, we don’t want them taking us to some obscure international court where they’ll be represented by one of you know who’s mates.

* had there ever been a leader who’s actions and inactions are in such direct contrast to his endless and ineffectual ramblings?

So when will the African Union be paying up? I believe these descendants of slave owners owe the descendants of slaves around the world a million each.

Absolutely M.
We must never stop reminding these ‘cunts’ (I originally used a four letter word beginning with W, but seeing as the UK version of the Stasi might be watching thought better of it) that they were the ones capturing and selling their brothers to other brown men and the Arabs for centuries before the white man turned up.

selling their brothers to other brown men and the Arabs for centuries before the white man turned up.

And probably still are. The slave trade amongst the tinted races is by no means dead.

And the response to this grift must be a firm Arell v Pressdarm – or a demand for some recompense for the cost of the West Africa Squadron.

I hope you Brits will support our claim at the UN for compensation for the huge numbers of colonists swarming into Western countries today.

I suspect that Sowell quote is not genuine as the claim it contains is false.
Up to 1.5m whites were enslaved in North Africa. (16thC-19thC)
12m-15m Africans were enslaved in the Americas (c1500-1900 ad)
10m-18m Africans were enslaved in Arabia and India (c 7thC-20thC ad)

He doesn’t say the Americas, he says the US and its antecedents. However the white slaves in Africa did not breed and the blacks in the US did, so he isn’t counting hereditary slaves.

Good point. Of the 12-15 million Africans enslaved during the transatlantic trade, only about 388,000 were shipped directly to North America, though slaves were also traded between the Caribbean/South America and North America, so the ‘directly shipped’ figure is somewhat misleading The slave population in North America grew rapidly through natural increase. About 4m, Africans were enslaved in North America from 1619-1865.

So you are right: Sowell is not counting hereditary slaves, in which case his figures are correct, if rather misleading.

Off the top of my head, Portugese traders transported the most slaves, and Brazil had the largest slave population, both by a large margin.

You are right. Portugal transported 5.8m slaves – in about half of all recorded voyages. Britain was next, transporting up to 3.4m slaves.

Will they be demanding reparations from themselves?

The evolution of an institution more clearly recognizable as slavery coincided with the growth of urban centres connected to long-distance trade networks and the formation of larger, more centralized polities after c.1400 ce. Slavery and slave trading were integral to gold mining and the long-distance gold trade into which Ghana became integrated around the thirteenth or fourteenth century.

Those crimes were committed by Africans with dominant tribes making a living out of trading people from weaker tribes as slaves first to Arab traders, then Europeans.

So reparations? Start at the head of the supply chain.

Do not hide behind such superficialities as whether you should or should not give a dime to a beggar. That is not the issue. The issue is whether you do or do not have the right to exist without giving him that dime. The issue is whether you must keep buying your life, dime by dime, from any beggar who might choose to approach you. The issue is whether the need of others is the first mortgage on your life and the moral purpose of your existence. The issue is whether man is to be regarded as a sacrificial animal. Any man of self-esteem will answer: “No.” Altruism says: “Yes.

Plato and Aristotle held that altruism is not unlimited but is the appropriate concern for others. Christ tells us to try to love our neighbour as much as we love ourselves – but not more than we love ourselves.

That said, socialist altruism is a perversion of altruism…

Born in the north-east of England, my dna test showed no anglo-saxon genes at all – apparently, my origins are Norwegian (4%), Irish (9%), Welsh (11%) and the rest is Orkney (and Cleveland which is heavily Orkney)…

Orkney is substantially Norwegian, which would more than account for the Norwegian 4% but since when was Cleveland heavily Orkney? Northumbria was Angles not Saxons so you might not have Saxon genes bur if you haven’t got Angle genes you must be descended from from much later immigrants (possible Welshmen who came to Eston to mine the iron ore in the 1850s).

Apparently, Orkney and Cleveland show considerable genetic overlap. No-one knows why. Though Orcadian vikings frequently raided (and raped women in) North East England, both as pirates and as allies of the Norwegian crown. The Lindisfarne Raid (793 AD) suggests that Norsemen were already using Orkney and Shetland as bases for raids and even settlement decades earlier.

Robin Hood’s Bay, Whitby and Saltburn may have been raided, but hardly Cleveland. There’s no wealth to steal until you get to Guisborough.

Thumbs up for the Eston mention john77 – the town shows up on a lot of 1861 census returns, and almost none in 1841. Middlesbrough must have been a migrant magnet between those years.
It’s also indicative of refining iron ore just discovered in the Cleveland Hills being a better deal for unskilled workers than mining slates in Wales. Which reminds of a TW point about sweat shops being better than rearing buffalo in South and East Asia.

If people of a race are responsible for what people of their race did in the past, Blacks! have a lot to atone for. Please note how incredibly racist their position is. Indeed, it actually JUSTIFIES ALL that happened in the past.

By their standards, South African necklacing justifies extermination of all black races.

Where do the Egyptians and Berbers stand on this?

Imagine if you will, Hitler|Black Africans blaming all German|African problems on Jews|western whites.

The AU Motion is a crime against humanity. Wakati Wetu participants should be imprisoned.

When AU motion is tabled* at UN, ALL nations should end aid to Africa. Cut off these ingrates. Indeed, chunky African black women have become decadent. Cut aid now.

*Curiously, ‘tabled’ in American English is the exact opposite of British English.

TBF, the Atlantic slave traders were clearly taken advantage of, and this has left a legacy of huge costs for Western countries dealing with the descendants of the slaves.

How much is the African Union proposing to compensate us for?
