Democracy, eh?

The only reason to change the rules on indefinite leave to remain in the UK, as she is doing, is to use migrants already in this country with legal permission as weapons in Labour’s war to fight off the threat from far-right political parties.

Those “far-right” political parties are gaining a lot of political support because they are proposing policies which a substantial fraction of the electorate would like to see happen. Whether the electorate should think that way or not is a different question. Clearly, that substantial portion do.

Isn’t that supposed to be what democracy does? Makes politicians enact the policies the electorate desires? Or is democracy limited in some manner, to only those policies Spud approves of?

This is the unsolved problem of democracy.

Other voters often disagree with YOU!!!!

If only there was a system where those who wanted to grant ILR could do so and could pay for it themselves, and those who didn’t want to grant them ILR didn’t have to and didn’t have to pay for it. A bit like the refugee policy the UK had in the 1930s, or a sponsorship system.
Then everyone happy and that democracy problem goes away as democracy doesn’t decide it

Bongo, the problem we have with the left is that they want us to pay for their hare brained policies, whether it be welfare, immigration, net zero, foreign aid, ad infinitum…..

ILR applicant must pay fees – currently £3,226 (per person – even children). The fee is not refundable if you get refused. Processing usualy completes within six months, and if you leave the country (strictly speaking, I think it’s the Common Travel Area) during this period your application is withdrawn which means you lose your fee unless processing has not started.

I’m guessing you’re referring to this.
People who do it the legal way e.g. bringing in husbands or wives from abroad who pay these fees get stiffed.
I’m surprised that so many on work permits came in during the Boris Wave but fair play to them, they must have come from some rough countries. I’d still prefer a devolved system where the leftist majority didn’t impose on all to pay for it.

Now, a community survey shared with the Sunday National from campaign group Skill Migrants Alliance of more than 10,187 skilled migrants has found that 62% would “seriously consider” leaving the UK if the changes go ahead.

Meanwhile, a further 31% say they would “possibly” leave.

It’s important to remember that not all immigrants are rapists, benefits scroungers, terrorists, anti-Semites, drug dealers or – at the risk of repeating myself – Muslims.

Many immigrants are hardworking, law-abiding, honest people.

And I want them to fuck off out of my country too.

The first immigrant I met was a Polish RAF pilot who fought for us in the Battle of Britain to save our country after Chamberlain had failed to save his, and could not go back because he had fought against the Nazi/Soviet invasion and Attlee had granted Stalin control over Poland. His son (he married a “Wren”) was one of my schoolfriends.
How about *you* fucking off out of my country – it has been mine since before you ever claimed it as yours. [A cousin of my grandfather traved the family back to Saxon yeomen before William the Bastard invaded].

OK, so all wannabe immigrants (‘skilled workers’ or ‘asylum seekers’) are conscripted into the army and we send them to the front line in Ukraine. If they survive a tour of duty, they get to stay. Heck, we’ll give them full citizenship. Sounds about equal to what your Polish pilot acquaintance did for the UK to earn his place.

What skills are we referring to here, exactly? Professors at Oxford teaching mathematics? Helene Darroze, Michelin chef at the Connaught? George Clooney? Or shopkeepers, careworkers and curry chefs?

90+% of immigrants could go and we’d be better off.

That’s why I was annoyed at John, 77, virtue signalling about Polish refugees from nearly 100 years ago.

It’s completely irrelevant to today, and we should be uncompromising in our rhetoric on this. Our country has been invaded, and most of them should leave. In reality tho, I’m fine with the good ones, and the ones with big boobies, staying.

But we don’t need any more of the good ones either. I see the job applicants we get. Vast majority (!) are now recently arrived immigrants. We get at least 400 applications for every position btw. It’s mental.

I’ve hired black people, Asians, and obvs white people during my career. I’m not even slightly racist about giving people opportunities and teaching them to make money. A good sales team is a pirate crew, and pirates come in all colours. But all the blokes and she-blokes I’ve recommended to hire are Brits. And rightly so – Britain is their country. Why would we want more competition for young British people? That’s a rotten thing to do to them.

Whether the electorate should think that way or not is a different question

As far as Zack Polanski is concerned you either think the way he approves of, or you’re shut out of society…

Its a matter of definitions.

When you say ‘democracy’ you mean ‘democracy’.

When they say ‘democracy’ they mean ‘managed democracy’ – ie, manufactured consensus.

Its the same with ‘free speech’. When they say the UK has ‘free speech’ they mean ‘you are free to speak as we allow you to speak’.

You will be allowed the illusion of choice. You can vote for the socialists to impose every greater socialism and totalitarianism, or you can vote for the ‘conservatives’ who will conserve the gains the socialists have made until the socialists can again get you to vote for the socialists. The ratchet only turns one way.

So in the upcoming election you can vote for the Labour candidate for more socialism and totalitarianism or you can vote Reform and allow Farage to conserve the gains Labour has made so far.

Small boat invaders, usually muslims, claim to support Labour, or even the Lib Dems, because they offer a right to stay if they support those parties. However, once the numbers of small boat invaders have increased to an extent they can make a difference, political parties like the Muslim Brotherhood may start appearing on ballot papers, or am I just being cynical enough to suggest our political masters are too stupid to see this? Then the deportation of the indigenous English to Rwanda may not seem like fiction.

I reckon that we’ve already got the Muslim Brotherhood Party… It’s just made a very successful takeover bid for The Greens.
