The core purpose of government is to provide freedom from fear. That means freedom from physical threat, Freedom from want, freedom from discrimination and freedom from the deliberate chaos that destroys the social fabric on which democracy depends.

Couple of hundred million dead people would like to point out that freedom from government is also of value….

What a bumptious tool.

I fear people like him. Does he propose that government frees me from him?

Of course not, because he is a bumptious tool.

If you invent the premise you can conclude anything.

Troo dat.

OTOH, I submit that the core purpose of government is the securing of the borders (and the maintenance of armed force necessary to that end), then the tolerable administration of justice within those borders and, finally, in the most extreme cases, emergency and disaster relief.

I did not invent those premises. They just happen to be good ones …

If only it was so. It now appears the core purpose of government is rewarding your mates and winning the next election.

A government that could do all that would be a reason to be fearful all by itself. Truly nothing outside the state, neh?

Yep.

More rhetoric from Spuddle – and plenty of ‘freedom from’ but no ‘freedom to’. The core purposes of government? Law and order (law enforcement, national defence), provision of infrastructure, provision of any public services that cannot or will not be provided by the private sector (eg a very basic welfare safety net)…and, er, that’s it.

IMO the purpose of government is to:

a) Secure the lives, liberties and prosperity of the people.
b) Create the means to deploy whatever force may be necessary to protect a) against enemies both foreign and domestic.
c) Create the legal and regulatory conditions to allow a) to happen..
d) War with France ( obviously).

Surprised that you are missing on the Groaniad pushing a coup against the beloved rules-based leader! How much has oily Olly been greased to take the blame? Will Gina Miller unleash a law suit?

£100,000 is the price being bandied around (and probably elevation to The Lords once the MSM are looking the other way).

The core purpose of government is to provide freedom from fear. That means freedom from physical threat, Freedom from want, freedom from discrimination and freedom from the deliberate chaos that destroys the social fabric on which democracy depends.

Zohran Madmani’s manifesto.

Communism can deliver NONE of it. And it will bring fear and want. Freedom from discrimination as everyone will be treated like shi+. And big servings of deliberate chaos. A social fabric of neighbors informing on neighbors.

Spud et al can’t deliver on their promises, but they won’t have to. This phase is just to get people to give them power. No one in The Party believes this stuff. No one in The Party cares about this stuff. Their objective is power, not helping people.

Freedom from pretentious moronic little twats offering their cretinous suggestions about society (and, of course, economics, about which they know nothing), freedom from discredited marxist nonsense (which killed over 20 million innocence people), freedom from control freaks like the Solanum who who enslave millions if he could.
