I had this argument a little while back. Chap was going on about how Capitalism was responsible for slavery, genocide and exploitation in general.
I informed him that there was quite a lot of this going on well into antiquity, it was just spread about later on by powers that possessed ocean going ships and big guns. Someone was going to develop that technology. Greed is a universal human trait. It also enabled the genocide and slavery of communism to flourish.
