If our culture wars are to reach a nadir, it may be this single, absurd moment: a white female influencer is moving to sue a positive action charity over anti-white discrimination.
If we say that you’re not allowed to discriminate on hte basis of race then that means we’ve said you are not allowed to discriminate on the basis of race. This is not hard nor difficult to understand.
We do have laws against racial discrimination. So, do they wholly apply or not is an interesting question, no?
It is curious that Corcoran is advancing this case on the basis of the Equality Act. Indeed, it is this very piece of legislation that underpins schemes promoting diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI).

The resentment about migrants is due in large parts to high profile cases of dangerous criminals being allowed to stay in the UK because throwing them out would breach the HRA. Birmingham bin strikes are a direct result of the Eq Act.

Actual justice – have universal laws and principles and judge whether they have been breached based on the facts of the case
Social justice – judge whether there is a breach/crime based on the structural identities and positions of the parties involved.
Social justice doesn’t work, but as with a lot of left wing ideas it’s so successful because it feels intuitive. Few people really think racism towards black people is the same as racism towards white people. Lots of people agree with Anatole France in scoffing at the “majestic equality” of the law. You can’t run a legal system like that though. It only leads to two tiered justice and anarcho-tyranny.
Or it leads to anarchy. Eventually people will so be fed up with this shit, they’ll start trashing things. You don’t have an establishment that prioritises People of Colo(u)r if a mob of whites have burnt it to the ground. You may not be there yet but you’re headed that way
It leads to the local populace lynching the criminals before the social justice police turn up to “arrest” them, have a social justice judge declare them innocent through the violence of structural racism or serve some minimal time.
Don’t want lynchings?
Make the punishment fit the crime and apply it as “blind justice” without regard to the colour of your skin, the homeland of your ancestors, the sex of the people you sleep with or the religion you practice.

In the UK, any view like this would be ignored by the State run organisations in the same way that the BBC and the NHS ignored the Supreme Court. “Yeah, well you judges would say what the law meant, but we like our way of interpreting it, so foxtrot oscar”…
I think the legal test should be: Is it legal to have an organisation which helps to organise internship opportunities for young white people? If not, then it’s not legal to have an organisation which helps to organise internship opportunities for young black people and other ethnic minorities.
Or maybe we just need to wait a few years until white people are also an ethnic minority and all will be well.
The Social Justice mob will say “that’s different” because white people are not structurally discriminated against. But of course there are plenty of wealthy and successful Asian communities, British Nigerians tend to be much better off and higher educational attainment than British Jamaicans, and so on. Posh private schools are full of Hong Kongese and West African kids.
People from those groups are often better placed to navigate systems that “promote BAME achievement” than kids who really need the most help. Your average 18 year old has never heard of eg a management consultancy or investment bank, so would never even think of looking into internships at one, whereas someone from an elite background is likely to know someone in their circle with family working at one or have a clued up careers advisor in school – an internship opportunity aimed specifically at a group they qualify for means less competition so is gold dust.
As white people become minoritised in different areas – and this varies by age, so there are lots more places white kids are already in the minority even if adults aren’t – it’s already relevant for local government, charities, employers, etc when thinking how to treat them. There are significant employers where white people are underrepresented – swathes of the NHS for example. I can’t see positive discrimination campaigns in favour of white people ever catching on but at least if they’re “just one more minority” then it ought to cut down on prioritisation of other racial groups. In the end racial or sectarian politics is bad news for immigrant communities because the largest single community is going to be white British for generations to come – it won’t help other groups one bit if they increasingly identify and organise as a bloc.

This is a spot-on comment and you can generally see this now with media, politics. There was a time when non-white actors, politicians etc were people who came from poverty or the working class, like Oprah or Diane Abbott, but once you get to people born after the 1970s, its a different story. Lupita Nyong’o has a father who is a big deal in Kenyan politics. Rishi went to private school and married a rich woman.
What will be the outcome of this legal action? In a way, it doesn’t matter for the claimant. To entangle this organisation in proceedings that deplete it of time, energy and resources is a victory in itself. When the Equality Act brought together various antidiscrimination laws in 2010, it was created in abstract, unsuited for a changed society in which it could be used for political gain by actors who want to deny or redefine the existence of discrimination. And so, organisations will be disrupted or destroyed along the way, but in the end the act itself may have its day in court. That could leave millions of us more exposed than ever.
Not so nice when the boot is on the other foot is it? It goes to show the your concept of equality is where you are protected by law but people of another, in your eyes ‘bigoted’ race are unworthy of such protection. I for one am absolutely delighted that the Equality Act is being targeted and will certainly be opening some bubbly in the event its demise causes its partisans to head to other more ‘sympathetic’ climes or have to compete on their actual merits, rather than their skin colour.

If last weeks judgement in Virginia holds up the answer is no, you cannot break the law by gerrymandering boundaries to ensure that voters of a certain hue are guaranteed to win.
