Fairly high risk occupation

A Virginia man who was having an affair with the family’s Brazilian au pair was sentenced on Friday to life in prison without parole for the murder of his wife and a man who was lured to the couple’s home as a fall guy.

Brendan Banfield, a former Internal Revenue Service (IRS) law enforcement officer, claimed he shot Joseph Ryan after he came across Ryan attacking his wife on the morning of 24 February 2023. But prosecutors said Brendan Banfield and au pair Juliana Peres Magalhães set Ryan up in a scheme to kill Christine Banfield, a pediatric intensive care nurse.

The au pair was in on the plot and has also been jailed.

It’s just one of those things that has always occurred to me. Being the second wife of a man who murdered his first seems like a pretty high risk occupation. Presumably increased when you have a kid and then there’s another au pair…..

I reckon the husband was probably the one in more danger.

BiS will know all about this sort ofbthing.

Imagine how Lorena Bobbitt’s idiot of a second husband might if he hadn’t had the necessary lobotomy.

If I was a former tax man, I’d make damn sure I never went to jail. Of course, I couldn’t resist giving up thievery, so I’d probably never leave the IRS in the first place…

I’ve seen a YouTube video on this.

The couple lured the ‘fall guy’ to the property by posing online as a woman who was into ‘rape’ fantasies. So the fall guy turns up and the husband shot him claiming he had come back home and stumbled onto a scene where the man was attacking his wife (she having been dispatched by the husband earlier). The police initially fell for the trick but the au pair turned out to be a bad liar and wracked by guilt.

Oh, there goes my theory. I assumed the au pair thought the wife was a shit, too. Else, she would have realized the obvious risk.

Reminds me of Carry on Loving, first wife died of eating the mushrooms, second wife died of failure to eat the mushrooms.

No one ever seems to think that far ahead. Same as marrying the person who was cheating on their spouse with you – you think they’re not going to do it you?

Accusing a taxman of not having a conscience does seem a little naive to me.
