“As a barrister, I have stood in family courts and watched judges normalise abuse, trivialise trauma and silence survivors,” Dr Charlotte Proudman, a co-director of Right to Equality, said.
Ah, there we are then.
A report has found “widespread and concerning evidence” of bias and victim-blaming in the family courts – primarily disadvantaging women.
Bin it, it’s nonsense.

Having seen friends and relatives divorce and the aggressive emnity the process generates, I reckon that after a very short time any judge with more than three functioning brain cells could sort out where abuse exists or is being made up.
any judge with more than three functioning brain cells
Unicorn shit country. To be fair, I have known barristers who became judges to whom that did not apply, but in general, barristers do inhabit a different planet.
I have met some lawyers who are incredibly thick.
I wonder how rare intelligent judges are these days

Nowt on the website about who the sugar daddy is. I’m betting it’s us, sluiced and siphoned through – or, if you prefer, laundered – through four government departments and another half-a-dozen similar ‘not-for-profit’ organisations.
The tap really is going to have to be turned off.
And wait, what’s this: https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/14452708/filing-history
A not-for-profit, she says?
At least they are not a charity. No gift aid. That said, they probably receive some government cash.
Private company limited by guarantee – Ms Proudman is at risk of having to pay *up to £1* to its bilked creditors (to be shared between them) if it declares bankruptcy. At incorporation she was the sole shareholder and she has been (up to the last filed accounts) the sole employee. Of course her salary will take priority over amounts owing to unsecured creditors and she alone determines what her salary should be.
“non-profit” has a variety of meanings.
You nailed it – this hideous harpy, probably one of the few people I could legitimately say is at the level of evil of Richard Murphy, has fleeced the taxpayer for decades.
Here is the other director of ‘Right to Equality’ on Twitter, with another ‘thing that didn’t happen’:

As the great Deveril says – Reform will need to look at Franchise Reform as its going to take at least two terms to remove this type of organization in its entirety.
Tony Blair changed the definition of what a charity is to allow NGOs to be classified as charities. Meaning that they do not pay tax and they qualify for gift aid. Going back to a 1990s definition would force a load of organisations to being LLCs and being in the position of paying tax and loosing their gift aid.

Funnily enough I was at school with the ‘Batman’ character. He was pretty eccenctric back then and I can imagine how he could’ve made a bad impression on the court even if he was a great dad.
A pal went through a messy divorce, replete with false accusations of abuse that were sensibly thrown out by the rozzers and courts. As a result his ex wife didnt get that much of a settlement. It was all academic; the experience hollowed him out, he took to drink and it killed him at 55, so his kids got everything anyway.
I knew one of the F4J activists, not sure which character he dressed up as. He committed suicide in the end.
Gosh how awful. I hope it isnt the same one.
Bit of a theme this morning, for me. Proudman views herself as a soldier in a war. It’s a different war to Mehdi Hasan’s, though she doesn’t realise that yet.
Same war, different front?
I think more like the Lebanon – lots of examples eg the Syrian intervention against the PLO in 1976.
Assad’s Syria was supposedly aligned with the Palestinians, and definitely hostile to the (Lebanese Christian right-wing) Phalangists, who were in turn about as antithetical to Syrian interests as it was possible to be, but Assad saw that a strong PLO-controlled Lebanon on his doorstep was not conducive to his interests, so he attacked his ally in defence of his enemy.
Once that was sorted he could and did go back to attacking his enemy.
Mehdi and his lot will have no truck with Proudman and her lot if this all pans out in his lot’s favour, as it seems likely to do.
Strangely, the hard evidence points towards consistent bias in favor of women
I said that the Family courts have got marginally better – but that basically the courts now rule 93% in favour of women, as against 100% prior to about 2010. Anyone who thinks the courts are biased in favour of men (And that’s any court frankly!) is part of the ‘Control Left’ and inhabits a parallel universe.
Control Left don’t think the courts are biased in favour of men – they just pretend to do so. Did Winston Smith believe the stories he wrote for the Ministry of Truth?
The chap I mentioned above, who died. I sat down with him when his divorce started. He was confident that it would all be amicable.
I had to explain to him as patiently as possible that she was going to come after him and he was going to lose. The only thing he could do was to make her seem more unreasonable. Luckily she managed that herself.
Not that it mattered in the end anyway.
Note that Babs Lady Hale came up through the Family Division, where cases are settled on 10% jurisprudence and 90% ‘muh feelz’.
The fact that it’s in the ‘Ndraguia is a hefty clue to the bollocks likelihood.
