Ms French Gates

The philanthropist always saw Epstein for who he really was – despite his meetings with her then husband Bill Gates. Now carving out a life on her own terms, she explains why she’s focused on the fight for women’s health

That fight for women’s health taking place by buying lots of articles in places like The Guardian. Which then returns the favour by large and adulatory pieces on Ms French Gates.

Of course, “on her own terms” would be rather more powerful if she were spending money she herself had made.

But.

The Pivotal website is slapped all over with quotes by her and pictures of her. Bill barely appears on the Bill Gates Foundation site.

There’s also a fundamental difference in their projects. Bill gets how to spend money: vaccines, science. Melinda is all “helping women in childbirth”. Well, OK, but you’re going to have to keep funding that. Where vaccines and science are forever. The multiplier effect is enormous.

But then, one of these people created billions of dollars of wealth, and the other did some work on Microsoft Encarta.

Isn’t it about time we called it the “Epstein industry”. There’s a great deal of money being made out of a single word.

The interview on Women’s hour where she claimed to find numerous ‘academics’ who agreed with her interpretation of Catholic thought, is the most unintentionally hilarious thing you will ever hear.
