Calls for Graham Platner, the Democratic candidate for US Senate in Maine, to withdraw his candidacy intensified Monday after a woman accused him of sexual assault in an exclusive report by Politico.
While Platner denied the claims, many top Democratic figures quickly called on the beleaguered nominee to step down.
So, which internal section of the D Party doesn’t like Platner then?
After all, an allegation of sexual assault is pretty easy to make – some who do so cannot even recall in which year it occurred for example. And if an allegation is all that is required to derail and electoral campaign then, well, you know, politics is about winning……
He sounds like someone who won’t march to the D Dictoriat, and may even * shock, horror* vote along with the R’s if they make sense, so……..

Susan Collins is one of the most milquetoast R’s while Platner ran in the D primary to the left of the governor who, IIRC, was term limited out of that office.
I was reminded again this morning that the Democrats are evil. When the Los Alamos project was being funded Democrats in Congress demanded that it be segregated because it was to be located in a southern state.
Wut? New Mexico is not a southern state.
But Democrats aren’t very bright. So maybe . . . .

The latest move seems to be because some further shoe is about to drop, with speculation that it may be revelations that the reason he was expelled from his $60k pa boarding school was that he was a bit rapey with the young bluestocking girl pupils, though that has yet to be seen.
By all accounts, Platner is a piece of shit. Up to now, the Dems have been falling all over themselves to cover for him in the face of “Republican smears”.
Now the Dems have ditched him, either he’s not left wing enough or they have also realised that he really is a nasty piece of work.

This latest accuser is a Democrat person of some (not sure how much) standing, so apparently more believable
Totenkopf Platner . . . communist mayors . . . Democrat leaders have said out loud that they 1) know these are bad people 2) let them in their ‘big tent’ because “It’s all about winning.” Not principals. Not the people. “Winning.”
In the America I grew up in, this is an existential mistake.
My theory is that radicalism in the Democrat party has boiled off the normal people, leaving a residue of progressives and assorted communists.
Therefore, this is all good news.

He’s not the first. Eric Adams (NYC Mayor) was rather clumsily and obviously excommunicated for immigration apostasy.
The whacking of Andrew Cuomo is more interesting as the motive isn’t clear. Who ordered the hit?
Cuomo is notorious for forcing nursing homes to take in Covid patients. He is literally responsible for hundreds of deaths.
Sex accusations as the cause of his resignation appear to be a coverup for his Covid idiocy.
This has become of some urgency for the establishment Democrats. The deadline for him to withdraw is the 12th of July. Then the Democrats can choose a candidate to replace him, ala the Biden Harris switcheroo.
The key is Platner has to voluntarily quit for this to work. He has cancelled all of his current campaign appearances. My guess the Dems have him somewhere metaphorically working him over with a rubber hose to get him to withdraw.
