We are saved, eh?

I have appreciated all the messages of goodwill over the last week or so, but as Steve Keen and I agreed in a discussion this week, we both feel driven by the scale of the crisis the world’s economy, its democracy, and its environment face. As a consequence, we are both taking a decidedly unusual approach to retirement by maybe working harder than we ever have. The only reason is that we feel the crisis is so overwhelming that answers are needed as soon as possible.

Capt Keen and Capt Spud to the rescue of civilisation!

So what colour will their capes be?

“”s a consequence, we are both taking a decidedly unusual approach to retirement by maybe working harder than we ever have.”

I wonder if it’s not due to not having any retirement savings?

It can’t be. Someone with his depth of understanding into how finance actually works could have as much as 50p to his name.

I expect he lost a lot of his savings when he lost that libel case to Lord Ashcroft and Ashcroft’s banks. Perhaps not so much the ‘substantial donation’ to an Ashcroft nominated charity but the legal costs of the solicitors for Ashcroft and the banks.

And he has Messiah Syndrome, or, at least, White Knight Syndrome. If afflicted, most teenagers grow out of it. Those with arrested development join the Greens and/or become leftoid obsessives.

Perhaps the “no capes” rule could be suspended in this case?

One can’t help but wonder Steve Keen’s contribution to that agreement… Does he actually know about it?

Perhaps a more pertinent post was this one – which inadvertently revealed much about where his remarkably opaque funding comes from.

The Spectator – the far-right rag edited by Lord Michael Gove, the man who did more to destroy English education and create the crisis among young people alienated from education as Secretary of State for Education in David Cameron’s government – said this in an email promoting its latest edition:

Gove has many flaws but his time in education single-handedly did huge damage to the Hard Left monopoly controlling it up to that point. The very fact he is being described by someone who is the most idiotic commentator known to exist in cyberspace suggests he really did great work.

There is a problem with British politics….. posit in this week’s cover piece.

Dark money from abroad is being funnelled into our system. A complex web of interlocking charities, advocacy groups and campaign outfits is being bankrolled to push a ruinous net-zero agenda. This is the story of the Dark Green lobby.

This is fantastic stuff – given the obvious lunacy of ‘Net Zero’ and its likely impact on the bulk of the populace it’s critical to understand where this threat comes from and why it has such an apparent strongarm lock on our political class. The article sounds excellent.

It added:

The European Climate Foundation spent €171 million last year in Europe, much of this funding research for British thinktanks. It also funds outlets tackling ‘net-zero misinformation’ – in other words, science.

The Quadrature Climate Foundation spends money ‘greasing the wheels so we can accelerate the [net-zero] movement’.

One of the recipients of its generosity is Uplift, an organisation which has judicially reviewed the legality of the ongoing extraction of oil and gas from the Rosebank site in the North Sea.

Net zero has given the left a new means of controlling and constraining capitalism and growth. And now the darling of the Dark Green lobby, Ed Miliband, is on the verge of becoming the man controlling the economy. It is hard not to be impressed. And deeply depressed.

I don’t think anyone on this blog certainly – or anyone not receiving funding from those sources noted would disagree that Ed Miliband’s reign as Environment minister has been an unmitigated catastrophe.

I was not sure whether to laugh or cry when I read this. The paranoia is deep. The dedication to the destruction of the planet, whatever the cost, is profound. The denial of the science is clear, as is the denial of the evidence of climate change all around us. The unbridled enthusiasm for neoliberalism is apparent. The sense of delusion runs deep.

I am reminded of the saying regarding being closest to the target when the flak is heaviest. We now know that Murphy himself may have been influenced by this ‘Dark’ Money. May explain a lot.

Every time I hear the term “dark money” I imagine it being sung to the tune of Cher’s “Dark Lady”.

Perhaps the most interesting sentence in the actual post was this.

‘I have to face reality’

Because when its pointed out to him it’s apparently, ‘Far Right’, ‘neoliberal’ or ‘trolling’ – so if his health issues have forced him to reconsider then that’s fantastic – somehow I doubt there’s any humility there at all…

Murphy’s blog and videos are like someone telling fat kids that donuts are healthy. It’s what they want to hear

I was looking up Keen. He seems to be a better economist than Murphy (that’s a low bar), but still seems politically driven and wanting the answer to everything to be MOAR STATE.

But then I found this, on his Wokipedia page:

“Keen was in favour of the UK leaving the European Union, stating mainstream economists were over-certain and exaggerating the likely effects following the country’s withdrawal. he European Union, stating mainstream economists were over-certain and exaggerating the likely effects following the country’s withdrawal.”

“He also states the Euro is destined to fail, not least because of the way it penalises recession-hit countries unable to pursue expansive fiscal policy”

OK, that’s a fairly standard lefty objection to the EU, that is stops countries running up huge deficits (or used to). But I thought being pro-Brexit was heresy in Murphy’s world (apart from Corbyn, who seemed to get a free pass on it).

But then there’s this:

“Keen regards the open-borders free-movement policy of the EU as precipitate and unsustainable in the absence of a common fiscal policy; all the more so, given how migrants impose burdens on public services in destination countries also experiencing austerity.”

How can Murphy work with an anti-immigrant fascist who believes immigrants from poor countries are a cost, not a blessing?

“Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Oh, No! it’s just Spudman!”

It doesn’t really matter what colour his cape is. it will be permanently wrapped around his head so he’ll go crashing about blundering into unseen errors and tripping himself up on facts and truth.

I’ve attempted to watch a couple of Steve Keen videos. Sorry, I can’t trust anything he says…because I can’t hear a bloody word he says because he can’t set up a mic. And why is everything shot through a potato? All he’s doing is flogging his software that looks 100 years old and which relies on you defining all the mechanical inputs and outputs. Because a real world economy operates just like a fancy spreadsheet. Just another idealistic loon on the grift to make a few quid. I watched one of his and Spud’s mutual arse licking videos for 5 minutes once, both nauseating and hilarious at the same time watching Spud’s fat head bob up and down like Winston the dog with a silly smirk on his face. “Oh yes! Steve OH YES! YES! MORE! MORE TAXES! MORE! MORE! MOOAAR…AH..AH…AH..AAAHHHH’
