Camera crews told to shoot female athletes respectfully – it should be a given
In battle against sexualisation of sportswomen, latest guidance must be paired with improvement of gender diversity in broadcasting

By definition humans like looking at fit young women. Yes, this includes wimmins too – the wimmins’ mags are hadly full of hags now, are they? You’re just complaining about the species itself which, you know, isn’t the way to go?

Anyway, it does create a business opportunity. So the major broadcasters do it this proper way. Leaves a gap for a few enterprising lads to shoot differently, doesn’t it. Or even enterprising lassies.

But, they’re not particularly fit, are they? No-one is watching athletics for the fit birds. They watch for the men’s competition and the birds might be nice.

The other thing is that as sports became more and more professional, people’s humanity was removed. Athletics used to be a semi-professional thing in Britain, so women looked more like regular women. The women from the DDR were pumped full of drugs and looked weird. And while no-one is doing that in the UK (or at least not getting caught), athletes are full-time, diet and exercise are maximised, and they’re a lot more muscular. They’re also boring people, because to live like that, you have to be a boring person.

Supposedly Anna Kornikova could have done better as a tennis player if she were willing to bulk up more. But it would have hurt her endorsement income.

Easy choice. I’ll take good enough for top ten and x number of millions thanks.

Excellent move. Even a bulky, musclebound Williams Sister in her pomp would have been easy meat for the mens’ top 10.

You watch women’s sport for the grace, not the performance figures. Poor, too-fragile Emma Raducanu is going to ruin her looks trying to bulk up to compete with lezzers who aren’t as good as men.

How very tedious. Didn’t the ancient Greeks compete naked for the very purpose of demonstrating physical perfection as well as athletic prowess? It’s all part of the fun.

Many athletes, male and female, make a few quid on the side with modelling and good luck to them. GB’s fetching new champion sprinter is one such I believe.

Fiona Thomas, by the way, is a moron who writes whining guff about female sports in the Terriblegraph. One of many of its hacks and hackettes who would be better suited to the Graun.

When they deal with gender inequality in the coverage by bringing in a female presenter to cover men’s sports, why is it always a pretty one?

Also, why do athletes of the female persuasion need to wear their pants cut so high on the leg? Is it because men are watching?

I shall be doing more research.

But WB’s right. There are few real lookers. The runners are great if you just like looking at abs, but that’s about it.

I have heard the pole vaulter Embla Njerve is a favourite among a certain type of athletics fan. Thankfully I myself am not that shallow.

Keely Hodgkinson. Pretty, lovely arse and legs, a cheery white girl who beats the grim-faced blacks. What could be better? But there are few others.

And a cold shower.

We had this discussion the other day. Those athletes who do technical events which involves a lot of standing around: long and high jumpers, tend to go really for the glamorous look. Italian girls started this off and the Greeks and Balkans soon followed.

I remember watching the ladies curling at an Olympics in the 90s. The Canadian team were all lipstick and eyeliner, the Scottish team were really dowdy. They learnt their lesson and four years later the GB team all had nice hairdos.

Figure skaters, rhythmic gymansts, synchronised swimmers and so on are required to look nice as part of the sport.

Figure skaters are lookers because it’s all about the legs. You need to be really well trained and have strong legs to do what they do. They’re often a bit chunky in the thighs.

I had a quick skim of the article and alongside the pics of flat chested hags it moaned about the cameras focusing in on their sawdust like minges. Nobody is watching that.
I’m pretty sure if you asked middle aged women who Linford Christie was they’d remember he was some athlete with a massive cock and know little else

And, of course, Mrs. Merton asking him whether all the fuss was making a mountain out of a molehill.

There’s a reason why the Chippendales were so popular but we’re supposed to forget that. Same goes for Magic Mike.

Divide et impera: this is just a little 0.5% added to the dividing wall being built between men and women, normal people and the rest.

It is not by definition; it’s an empirical fact…

I think he means as a definition of “fit” …
There are two meanings of “fit”, one of which relates to the ability to do lots of exercise without getting out of breath, the other being the sort of girl/woman he likes to look at.

It’s not necessarily because the sportswoman/athlete has shorts so tight you can lip read. It’s so you don’t notice the sportswoman/athlete is packing meat and two veg.

If they start covering womens’ beach volleyball ‘respectfully’ they’ll be showing a blank screen with sound only. And then they’ll cut out the sound if there’s too much ‘grunting’ going on. In case someone gets ‘ideas’. Oh, and that means womens’ tennis will be gone for a burton too.

This will thoroughly piss of female athletes, many of whom will make far more money modeling than they ever do in athletics. Their skimpy dress is advertising.

This.

No one obliges them to wear that stuff. any more than lady figure skaters have to wear teensy-weensy little skirts before bending over or doing the splits.

Some of it, frankly, is common sense (why would you zoom into a woman’s behind when she is on all fours exhausted following a race?).

What a stupid cunt.

Female athletes don’t wear revealing outfits for a non-existent performance advantage. They wear revealing outfits in order to reveal.

In many professional sports, there is more money to be made from sponsors than from winning. Indeed, it is more critical, financially, to look good than to win.
