New York Times exec ‘murdered by elderly in-laws’
Witness claims couple, both 77, took turns to shoot Jonathan McKinsey, 40, in California car park
No, not shooting the son in law, shooting NYT executives.
If it were The Guardian of course we’d not require that added spice of being related now, would we?
A witness claimed in an interview with local Fox News KTVU that the elderly couple, who are 5ft 8in and 5ft 2in respectively, took turns shooting their son-in-law.
Blimey, they were pissed.
BTW, the backstory seems to be that he was very much less than decent in taking care of their grandkiddy. So, warning there, do not piss off Asians ’bout their nippers.
He was the newspaper’s head of engineering for games player experience, and had a beard.
Shooting was too good for him.
Looks like they decided to take one for the family.
Both of them? I’m imagining an almost comic scene.
“Honey, how many times do I have to tell you to wear your glasses? You’ve hit his shoulder, not his head. Give it to me”
“yes, dear”.
I guess it was fortunate that they didnt try a drive by.
I’m remembering a scene in a Bruce Willis film – car full of bad guys goes off a cliff, rolls 100ft until it lands upside down in a LA backyard swimming pool. Bruce and his pal rush up, the pal gazes in horror at the mangled car and asks ‘Are they dead?’
Bruce whips out a gun, empties the clip into the vehicle, and says ‘They are now”! ‘
The Last Boy Scout?
“the elderly couple, who are 5ft 8in and 5ft 2in respectively.”
Crucial info, but how tall was the victim?
The grandkid? Dunno, doesn’t say.
How can you give heights respectively when you haven’t first distinguished between them?
The Daily Mail adds the following information
“The former executive transitioned from female to male in 2010 and married his wife, Candice Jang, in 2011, according to the New York Post.
The killing occurred a week before a hearing was scheduled in McKinsey and Jang’s divorce case. The couple had three young children.”
“In his petition for a protection order, McKinsey alleged that Chen had directed anti-LGBTQ+ slurs at him and at one of their children, the Mercury News reported.
He also accused Jang of being abusive during medical procedures related to his transition.”
“In subsequent court documents, an attorney for Jang wrote that McKinsey ‘is simply prone to domestic violence and child abuse,’ noting that the incidents she cited in her previous complaint were ‘far from the first time’ he ‘committed physical violence against me or my family members’.
‘Due to his violent and negligent history, our children are simply not safe when left unsupervised and in his care,’ Jang wrote in a court filing last month.
But McKinsey claimed in his own court filings that Jang was the one who had been abusive for more than 15 years.
In 2013, he claimed she beat him with a frying pan, according to the court documents.
He also claimed Jang verbally denigrated the children, and alleged that Chen, Jang’s mother, was verbally abusive to one of the couple’s young children, raising objections over the child’s clothing.”
Poor children. Maybe there is a case for “normal” families after all?
What a brave new world it is.
It’s certainly a confusing one. She became he and the couple had 3 children.
They could both have given birth at some point but they aren’t both the children’s biological parents, if I’ve read the piece correctly.
I suspect we still haven’t been given the full story.
She remained she, not matter what her outward appearance
What the what now? Both ‘Dad’ and Mum were both wimmin? One of whom got transed? Very convincingly i have to say. That’s one helluva beard for a bird. But transing don’t make a man. So where did the children come from?
I’ve heard enough – set them free and give them the keys to the city!
A well choreographed double tap. Street theatre. Should be an arts award for them in it.
“The former executive transitioned from female to male in 2010 and got married to Jang in 2011. The estranged couple were set to be in court over the issue of custody this Friday prior to the shooting.”
Trans NYT exec threatened to kill wife, scared their kids with chilling book before his in-laws shot him dead
Hmmmm…. decent insight on the “why would they do that?…..”
Pretty bold and very *definite* statement, though… Up to *both* of them ensuring they take the Blame..
One of those cases where you really shouldn’t approve of the …solution…, but on the other hand… not quite sure if I wouldn’t have in similar circumstances.. very much not quite sure…
It was perhaps unwise of the woman to marry someone insane.
Anyway, now I know to be suspicious of bearded “gamers”.
McKinsey also said Ms Jang had once forced him to eat a cockroach and that she had hit him with a frying pan and a mirror on separate occasions.
Candidly, I’d expect nothing less.
I look forward to watching the dramatized version on Netflix. Usual ort of stuff, start with the shock shooting by an elderly couple then backtrack to explain why.
Related, for those wanting a bit of a laugh…
Apparently, one of the protagonists’s pronouns are it/its. This displays an unusual level of honesty and awareness, in my view.
Yeah, that story was making the rounds last week. Crazy will always eat crazy.
There’s something very wong about this case.
Where do you want to start?
I’m always very respectful to my, copper for 40 years, father in law. And to my late mother in law’s Filipino relatives. I suspect if I ever raised a hand to Mrs Ltw I’d be in serious trouble.
On the other hand, when there is any sort of medical emergency they are the first by your side.
Good on the grandparents. They sound like heroes.
