Anyone with access to PNAS?…I now have this, thank you!

Would love to see the full copy of this:

Human population reduction is not a quick fix for environmental problems

Hmm, it’s actually very boring even though it is edited by Paul Ehrlich.

Well, we certainly do quick human population reductions. We have the technology & quite a lot of practice. But they don’t tend to provide a fix for environmental problems. In the sense of having an environment with problems to fix.
There were loads of papers done on this in the 60s & 70s. Some have probably been declassified.

The word “environmental” might have warned you that it would be boring. Also that there’s a 98% chance that it would be balls.

If Ehrlich is involved they will have used liquid shite to print the document never mind the content.

Their worst credible mass death event just sums the deaths in the two World Wars. But when animal populations exceed sustainable levels they typically drop to 5% of that – eating the seed corn, that sort of thing.
Not that this will happen to us humans (except in ‘environmentally aware’ populations) – the rest of us will innovate our way out of the constraints. Roll on 20 billion.
