Praising Castro

There\’s a word for people like this:

Whatever one thinks of Fidel Castro, he is one of the few men who have known the glory to enter history and legend in their own lifetime. He is the last "superstar" of international politics. He belongs to the generation of mythical insurrectionists – Nelson Mandela, Ho Chi Minh, Patrice Lumumba, Amilcar Cabral, Che Guevara, Carlos Marighela, Camilo Torres, Mehdi Ben Barka – who after the second world war launched into political action with the hope of changing an unequal world. This was a generation that thought that communism promised a radiant future, and that injustice, racism and poverty could be eradicated in less than a decade.

Ah, yes, that\’s it. Idiots.

Fidel Castro will certainly take up a fair amount of space in the history books, but the reasons behind that are wide open to debate!

Whatever one thinks of Fidel Castro, he is one of the few men who have known the glory to enter history and legend in their own lifetime. He is the last “superstar” of megalomaniacal dictators. He belongs to the generation of mythical tyrants – Adolf Hitler, Josef Stalin, Idi Amin, Benito Musolini, Mao Tse Tung, Pol Pot – who during the 20th Century launched murderous campaigns against their own people and others in a bid to creat anunequal world. This was a generation that thought that totalitarianism promised a radiant future, and that injustice, racism and poverty were the way forward.

A political superstar would not be afraid to stand for re-election every now and again would he?
