May’s Knights Who Say Ni!

May’s decision improves her prospects of making it through to the summer break without a leadership challenge. On Monday night, it emerged that No 10 had proposed bringing forward the summer recess to Thursday, to reduce the time available for Conservative MPs to hold a confidence vote if one were to be called, although Labour and some Tory MPs indicated they were considering voting against any attempt to impose an early holiday.

It is the Knights Who Say Ni! whose catchphrase is “Run Away, Run Away!”

Or is it Arthur himself?

Are you thinking of Sir Robin:

Brave Sir Robin ran away.
Bravely ran away away.
When danger reared it’s ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled.
Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about
And gallantly he chickened out.
Swiftly taking to his feet,
He beat a very brave retreat.
Bravest of the brave, Sir Robin!

Looks like the cowardly flight it is. If it is defeated it humiliates her further,

Also it means that the remainiac shite MPs will soon have to meet their local associations and Party members and be told exactly what is thought of their attempted sell-out and come face to face with the prospect of the dole queue under Corbin.

It is indeed Brave Sir Robin, although he is joined by other knights at certain points – particularly when subjected to a withering attack of French verbal abuse.

This just shows the contempt for democracy that these people have when their schemes are thwarted. We rail at the anti-democratic nature of the EU but this is just as bad. The next General Election is going to be an interesting time, in the Chinese sense, since this destroys any lingering thought that the Tories had any honour, apart from JRM and a few others.

Quite different, but I was immediately reminded of this one (the young heir of Loch Laggan)…

Under normal circumstances I’d be quite happy for Parliament to be in recess for most of the year.

As this isn’t normal and this Brexit clusterfuck needs sorting out pronto I’m in favour of locking them in the chamber until they get sort it out. I’d also send them the odd reminder of a note that says Brexit means Brexit with a picture on the other side of lampposts and hempen rope.

Arthur and the knights shout “Run Away! Run Away!” when the Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog attacks them.

I was trying to remember what the Knights changed their name to when Arthur comes back with the shrubbery so I checked the wiki page. I found this amazing load of bollocks on there:

The Knights who say “Ni” have been cited as an example of intentional disregard for historical accuracy in neo-medievalism, which may be contrasted with the casual disregard for historical accuracy inherent in more traditional works of the fantasy genre. However, in Medievalisms: Making the Past in the Present, the authors suggest that the original characters of Monty Python and the Holy Grail actually represent medievalism, rather than neomedievalism, as many of the film’s details are in fact based on authentic medieval texts and ideas. With respect to the Knights who say “Ni”, the authors suggest that Sir Bedivere’s difficulty pronouncing “Ni!”, despite its levity, “carries a very learned joke about the difficulties of pronouncing Middle English”, alluding to the Great Vowel Shift, which occurred in English during the late medieval period.

No, it was just a silly joke. Jesus wept.

On a related note, does Liam Fox’s insistence that the Chequers agreement is not dead remind anyone else of the Dead Parrot sketch?

It’s not pinin’! It’s passed on! This agreement is no more! It has ceased to be! ‘It’s expired and gone to meet it’s maker! It’s a stiff! Bereft of life, it rests in peace! If you hadn’t nailed it to the perch it’d be pushing up the daisies! It’s metabolic processes are now ‘istory! It’s off the twig! It’s kicked the bucket, it’s shuffled off it’s mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin’ choir invisible!! THIS IS AN EX-AGREEMENT!!

ISTR that it was to “The Knights Who Say Ecce Ecce Ecce Ph-Tang” – or something very similar and equally difficult to spell.

Baron Jackfied: what is, what is, what is “Ph-Tang”?

Probably a reference to Tarquin Fin-tim-lin-bin-whin-bim-lim-bus-stop-F’tang-F’tang-Olé-Biscuitbarrel (Very Silly Party).

The Knights Who Said Ni ended up being obsessed with acquiring landscaping shrubbery.

Oddly appropriate for both Labor and the Tories, it seems.

Its Authur and the Knights otRT. Mainly Authur.

Sir Robin’s thing was running away, yes, but it was King Authur who always said that line.

The KWSN never said that.
