I always thought they were like the Welsh, having similar size chips on both their shoulders. Welsh Frogs, could there be a worse combination?
Off topic: It is unreasonable that women have to find their husbands actually at fault to divorce them and get the house, so the Law must change:

We all laughed at the Sharia “I divorce you” three times, but at least they have to say it three times.

Here’s the killshot:
the average age of brides passes 35
In fertility terms, brides over 35 are like the Atacama desert, so the only point of getting married at this ripe old age is to satiate the feminine desire for attention and maybe squeeze out a single autistic kid after years of painful IVF.
Marriage is now a zombie institution, somehow still moving but thoroughly putrefied. Tinkering with divorce laws at this point is like freshening up the makeup on a corpse.

Seeing that the boundary between ex-French rocks and the rest of the UK runs roughly from Exmouth to Camelford, you might want to rephrase your comment.
Especially if talking to a Plymouthian.
Steve–The aim of the divorce law changes is to finish marriage off once and for all.
If the average age of brides is over 35, they’re most likely getting married after having kids, not before.
Quite what’s in it for the groom, I’m not so sure.
There is, of course, a Cornouaille peninsula in Brittany (the locals call it Kernev, cf Kernow).
Andrew – If the average age of brides is over 35, they’re most likely getting married after having kids
Sure (though our birth rates are currently in the toilet and nobody currently in power has a plan to change this except to double down on abortion and immigration, like a drunk thinking another bottle of Thunderbird will cure his ailments).
It underlines the irrelevance of marriage though. Marriage was invented for the purpose of providing for women and children. Since these economic underpinnings were demolished in favour of the child support model we now have, “marriage” increasingly means “weddings”.
These shopworn, gamey, middle aged brides aren’t getting married because it locks a man into supporting them and their kids as a stable family unit for life, they’re getting married because they fancy spending lots of money on a big dress and a cake and a holiday.
Is it a coinkydink that, as marriage has declined as a social institution, weddings have gotten increasingly lavish and expensive? Nah.
Steve,
“Is it a coinkydink that, as marriage has declined as a social institution, weddings have gotten increasingly lavish and expensive? Nah.”
people who have huge lavish weddings are more likely to divorce. Some American did the research. I think they also said that super-cheap weddings were also bad, but the most successful were people who had a moderate, sensible wedding.
Having orginally read the article, https://phys.org/news/2018-09-geologists-reveal-ancient-england-france.html, sat in the garden of a holiday cottage at Sennen Cove within viewing distance of Lands End; I was actually quite taken with it. It certainly does explain some things.
“the average age of brides passes 35”
The average (mean) here is affected by older women re-marrying after divorce or bereavement, not to mention ageing lesbians getting hitched. I’d like to know the average age of first-time brides entering opposite sex (ie real) marriages…
This should help, Theophrastus:

Most locals I’ve met in Brittany consider themselves as Bretons rather than French, so calling them Frogs is a bit wide of the mark.
They’re frogs to us, Steve, unless they want to rejoin the Angevin Empire.
