The more millionaires leave, the lower the average income, which means less poverty. That’s a good thing, isn’t it? 🙂
Poverty, sadly, is measured against median income, not mean….
Out migration was 479,000 in the last year we have data for. That’s around 41 out migrants every 45 minutes. If millionaires are more than 1 in 41 of the population, then the wealthy are staying, on average.
According to the venerable Adam Smith Institute, there were 602k in the UK as of 2023. That makes between a bit less than 1% and a lot less than 1% of the population depending on whether you use the Official Figures for population or the supermarkets’.
So 1/41 is way more than the population average.
