Try this on for size

Foreign offenders jailed for crimes in the UK will be deported as soon as they are convicted in a bid to tackle prison overcrowding.

OK. Whoo hoo!

David Gauke, the former Tory justice secretary, who is heading the review, has also recommended giving ministers powers for earlier deportations of foreign criminals jailed for more than three years. There are 10,800 foreign prisoners – one in eight of all inmates – which costs taxpayers £580 million a year.

And the kicker?

Under the early removal scheme, deported foreign criminals do not have to serve any more prison time after they are returned to their home countries.

So, to recast this:

Foreign criminals to be released and sent home without serving time……nott quite so exciting now, eh?

Don’t have a problem with low level offenders (shoplifting / theft / flogging dodgy fags / walking in a loud shirt in a built up area during the hours of darkness*) just being DNA’d then immediately deported, but for the serious stuff make them serve a sentence first. Pour enouragers les autres.

Yes, make it immediate, or the revolving door metaphor doesn’t work quite as well.

So long as the fuckers are actually deported and never, ever allowed back I’m not sure I’m bothered. Their families can fuck off ‘nall.

@Norman

Me too.

What this sewage has done cannot be undone, but an instant deportation to whatever cesspit it came from would at least ensure no further cost or burden to this country.

Of course, as long as its not allowed back (and if was to reappear there would be no excuse not being able to identify it).

I agree with Mark and Norman.

Branding should be in order to prevent the inevitable attempts at re-entry but I guess the ECHR would get into a tizzy (plus the feckers would undoubtedly receive large lumps of compensation).

Agree with Mark & Norman. What’s the purpose of imprisonment? To penalise the individual for criminal behaviour & to deter re-offending. To incentivise a lawbreaker to be law-abiding. But why spend money to rehabilitate foreigners? Send them back to where they came from to be that country’s problem not the UK’s.
Be interesting to see what the receiving countries’ responses might be. At the moment they benefit from the emigration of their criminal classes. One can think of several countries. How are they going to feel about getting them back? They might get a less than friendly welcome. UK law allows punishment for crimes committed in other jurisdictions.

Would the countries they’d left accept them back??

Of course one could simply fly over the place at 40 000 feet and push them out of the door. If you were feeling especially nice you could even give them a parachute!!

Incidentally, how about starting with the Irish. Use their own nationality qualifications against them. If they qualify for Irish nationality they get deported to the Emerald Isle. That’d certainly clear out a large portion of the prison population. And Liverpool would be virtually empty. And you must be able to fit up Spud for something.

President Trump solved that problem quickly. He just told those countries that we wouldn’t process visas unless they took their criminals back. The elites and businesses put pressure on their governments to comply.
