Retired US financier Howard Rubin was arrested Friday on sex-trafficking charges for allegedly trafficking dozens of women, including former Playboy models, to be sexually and physically assaulted during encounters in his New York City penthouse in a soundproofed room described in court papers as “The Dungeon”.
The actual accusations are women hired for slap and tickle – commercial sex – got more slap than desired or paid for.
Oh well. Beating up a whore is beating a woman up. Unless there’s specific agreement that you may beat her up of course. So, arguable case at least and why not charge?
Prosecutors said Rubin and Powers were sued for civil sex trafficking in November 2017, but a jury found at trial that they were not liable. The case has been appealed.
Ah, second bite at cherry. Tsk.
It should be pointed out that
A) Powers is Jennifer Powers, Rubin’s PA
B) Rubin works for Soros
So there are several extra hits available now, than there were before Epstein/Maxwell and Trump’s war on Soros financed District Attorneys.
“B) Rubin works for Soros”
In which case, the death penalties too good for him, eh?
If that’s accurate (never a guarantee with media reports) then this does sound like rolling the dice.
If you can’t find liability in a civil suit, then finding guilty in criminal court should be really hard. The burden of proof is supposed to be much higher than liability.
Of course, perhaps the civil suit was a stitch-up intended to dismiss things and make them proof against someone actually interested in prosecuting.
Sex-trafficking in US usually involves children, or force, fraud or coercion.
Violation of the Mann Act might be colloquially called ‘sex-trafficking.’ The key legal problem for Rubin and Powers is ‘fly to New York.’ Interstate brings federal government and Mann Act into play.
