What was striking about last weekend’s march wasn’t the turnout, easily matched by some of the protests about Gaza. It’s the lack of shame, the brazen insistence on an Englishman’s right to make others feel small. It’s the normalisation of what was until recently considered malicious extremism.
And possibly what has changed is the sheer volume of that immigration.
You know, Paracelsus, it’s the dose that matters?
We could even go back fuirther in the history of thought – Sorites. One immigrant is just Joe who comes from yonder. 5 is that nice family down the street who bring pakoras to the school fayre. 6 million could be a large enough pile to be a problem – a problem in the sense that they generate a reaction.
Could be, eh?
He whines about expressions of racism being ‘no longer a guilty pleasure’ but who overused that word so much it lost it’s epithet status ?
“… an Englishman’s right to make others feel small ..”
We don’t do it on purpose. We’re just so great that we can’t help it if foreigners feel like lesser beings.
This march alongside the Kirk killing seems to have caused the Left quite a serious crisis.
It seems that there is genuine shock that some pound shop Mosley like Stephen Yaxlley Thingy ( not his real name ) can really muster several hundreds of thousands in the capital.
Kirk’s assassination has unleashed a purge of leftists by employers who can now see that allowing these people to shout out their slogans is seriously endangering their wealth. Jimmy Kimmel was suspended yesterday and a WaPo reporter was sacked for overt racism.
While 2Tier is still in charge, the anti Semitic and racist left will still be tolerated and excused here, but that particular bastion is also crumbling fast.
Otto, the Left has lost the mandate of heaven.
They wildly overplayed their hand, turns out you can only gaslight people so much before they catch on to the fact that nobody wants this
Tony Blair introduced the idea of thinking about political parties as brands. The Left’s brand is now associated with grooming gangs, ugly foreigners laughing at you as they swarm into your country to consume your resources, LGBTQ paedophiles, hatred of white people, authoritarian censorship, government imposed poverty and failure.
As the British Broadcasting Company put it:
Enough hailing and support plus assurance na im dey trail Star Wars actor John Gboyega emotional speech for Hyde Park Black Lives Matter demonstration on top di death of George Floyd.
Di 28 years old wey cry many times during im speech about police involvement for di death of some African for US and UK say as im dey speak from im heart im “no know if I go even get career afta dis… oogaboogainnit”
Words I think we can all live by ♥️
An excellent description for what has happened to the Graun over the past 25 years or so.
The English the English the English are best.
I wouldn’t give tuppence for all of the rest.
Oddly enough, I think we Aussies are the best!!!!
Though since I’m one of the Second People, and thus descended from English, Scotch and (Northern) Irish, maybe it doesn’t make a great deal of difference.
At your best you’re basically us anyway.
Angelcynn.
It’s the lack of shame, the brazen insistence on an Englishman’s right to make others feel small.
I always love when men called – checks notes – ‘Aditya Chakrabortty’ lecture English people in England on what it is or isn’t permissible to protest about.
Just over a couple of months ago, in small towns across Northern Ireland, migrants were burned out of their homes and a mosque was petrol bombed.
Funny that when I searched the Guardian site for: ‘Aditya Chakrabortty grooming gangs’ not a single result was returned. Ho hum, just another anti-White, media twat.
Just over a couple of months ago, in small towns across Northern Ireland, migrants were burned out of their homes and a mosque was petrol bombed.
That is just the Irish historical culture shining bright. They do that to pretty much any religion or culture they disagreed with.
I wonder what Mr Chakrabotty’s view would be were the Welsh to start firebombing second homes owned by the English again?
I’m going with YAY TO DECOLONISATION!
What about the brazen insistence by Chuckusachapati’s ancestors on their right to ask the English to leave their Clountry?
When mixing chemicals, add the more volatile very slowly to allow it to be blended in and calmed. Chuck a load in all in one go and BANG!
The British are a pretty calm bunch.
Tim Newman pointed out something similar on X:
Not for the first time I implore ethnic and religious minorities not to behave as though they’re at the head of a conquering army. You have no idea how fragile western decency is.
In response to this post:
Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud to a resident: “You do not belong in this city, Islamophobe! Get out!”
The resident opposed naming a street, in Dearborn, after pro-jihad Osama Siblani

Well, Mr ChattyBotty, I think you need a government in your country of origin telling you that, by law, you have fewer rights than Grist, an Englishman, so shut up and piss off while I enjoy my leisurely stay in the 4 star hotel you’re paying for with occassional deliveries of little girls for me to rape and tortue at my leisure. And don’t forget some of your mates need to be chucked out of their homes to give mates of mine somewhere to live while they enjoy the same recreational activities as me. And better stay quiet, because if you gat angry about that the same government will lock you up for a few years…
If I may quote myself,
And hey, what could possibly go wrong?
As a wise man said…
They have slightly worn out the racism accusation – see this handy but by no means exhaustive A-Z:
https://archive.is/1Mr1K
When everything from astrophysics to zombies, via cutlery, Jingle Bells, milk and punctuality, is racist, where do you go next?
Why – to fascism, of course! Taxpayer funded/shoplifted quadruples all round!
Being of similar vintage, I too know about abuse in playgrounds and getting chased by skinheads and the house-warming gift of a brick through the window (which the police didn’t deem racist because the motive wasn’t sufficiently explicit – guys, next time wrap it in a memo!). We’re still some way from those days, thankfully, but one important aspect is much worse. Back then, racism was a furtive, guilty pleasure: deep down, even bigots knew their bigotry was ugly. No more.
Another story which is very unlikely to have happened. I can recall similar warnings being applied to anyone who moved into certain parts of Southampton or Portsmouth even 20 years ago. Millbrook for example was considered hostile even by natives of adjacent districts – S%$ all to do with racism. I’d also actually agree with your last sentence. Racism for ‘Global majority’ people and opinion formers is now overt – they hate whites and they aren’t afraid to show it, particularly as they have the support of the authorities in making those racist statements.
What was striking about last weekend’s march wasn’t the turnout, easily matched by some of the protests about Gaza. It’s the lack of shame, the brazen insistence on an Englishman’s right to make others feel small. It’s the normalisation of what was until recently considered malicious extremism. And a big driver isn’t the crowds down in the street, but the suits in our supposedly progressive government.
Whenever confronted with violent prejudice, Keir Starmer coughs, splutters and takes the coward’s way out. He either pretends not to see racism or panders to it.
Not sure Lucy Connolly would agree with you, nor all the others making ‘nasty’ tweets for whom rapists and murderers of ethnic extraction were released to make room for post Southport would either. I’d ask Peter Lynch about this – oh wait, I can’t.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cpw5w8nl5ezo
Worse still is when Starmer simpers in the face of prejudice, something he is doing more and more as his approval ratings go further and further south. At the end of last month, Nigel Farage promised mass deportation of practically anyone seeking asylum in this country, even if it meant handing Afghan women over to the Taliban and sending Iranian dissidents to their deaths. To the press, No 10 didn’t so much as raise an eyebrow at the Reform UK leader referring to other humans as a “scourge” or an “invasion”. For the great unwashed, it posted the most extraordinary advert. “Whilst Nigel Farage moans from the sidelines, Labour is getting on with the job,” it read, showing an image of Starmer stamped with “removed over 35,000 people from the UK”. Why vote for the full-fat hatemongers when diet racists will do the job just fine?
So we have to open our doors to everyone – As Steve of these pages points out. While I deplore the Taliban (Although I’d quite like them to deal with Owen Jones) are you saying we should accommodate every single Afghan fleeing them? I’m also surprised at how big the Afghan deployment alongside British troops was – I’d estimate based on news coverage and asylum claims, a force which peaked at 9,500 had nearly half a million intepreters and their dependents. What language would you prefer he use – at least 20,000 ISIS sympathizers have arrived here and are ensconced as a fifth column across the country? Is ‘invasion’ offensive to them?
“The British people have a far more nuanced view of immigration than the media and political narrative would have us believe,” observes Nick Lowles of anti-fascist organisation Hope Not Hate in his new book, How to Defeat the Far Right. Only one out of 10 Britons is outright opposed to immigration, while many who identify, say, asylum seekers as a huge issue have never met one. Of the top 50 areas in the UK most vehemently opposed to Muslims, Lowles finds that 27 are in the district of Tendring, in Farage’s constituency of Clacton. Yet how much of Tendring’s population is Muslim? Fewer than one out of 200: 0.4%.
Hope not Hate is arguably the single most hateful and most hopeless organization I’ve ever seen. Nick Lowles should be arrested and Reform should certainly make sure not a single penny is sent from Government money to this organization, which is little more than a propaganda outlet for ISIS and Hamas.
I am heartened by the reaction of Chakrabortty – the sooner the likes of him piss off somewhere else the better.
Hey, I was born in he Tendring hundred, lived there a couple of times, lived in Clacton itself, went to school in nearby Colchester. Never done me any harm…
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/first-group-of-gazan-children-arrive-for-specialist-nhs-treatment
“More patients and their immediate families are expected in the following weeks”.
The first 10 kids came complete with 50 “immediate” family members. I doubt if they paid their own airfares or for their accommodation in the UK
until they leave after the treatments.
Leave? Optimist.
I wasn’t being remotely serious.
I doubt if any of the Gazans and their entourages will ever be leaving our shores. Even if they don’t already have it in writing numerous immigration lawyers are wetting themselves in anticipation of the legal-aid funded asylum claims – spread out over several years naturally.
No more.
I think we can safely file this away under ‘things that didn’t happen’ – but some areas in the UK would still be hostile to outsiders regardless of race. I doubt Aditya has ever visited Clacton but there’s parts of there I wouldn’t wander about after dark. S$% all to do with race. I would concur with him that overt racism is much more tolerated now. If I look at the likes of Dr. Shola, Dawn Butler, Diane Abbott etc, their racism is wholly overt now. They hate Whites and society actively approves of that hatred, as we see in this and a dozen other Guardian articles daily.
VP, the annus horriblis 2020 was a turning point, but they were too busy heaping scorn and hatred on white people – erasing us from our own television screens, demanding we kneel to blacks – which they still capitalise as Blacks for BDSM reasons – to realise the new racial hierarchy they were trying to impose, with white men as the hated kulaks at the bottom, wouldn’t fly in Britain .
Even my Dad knew this was coming.
Is that the classicstrip ‘Big Dave’ from the 90s??
Ay oop
There’s no doubt who your enemy is then. Although was there ever any?
The Indian settler is right about this:
It’s come to this: Keir Starmer is now just the warm-up act for Nigel Farage
All our politics are about Reform or Stop Reform now. Merely by existing, campaigning, and not being a dangerous extremist – there’s nothing more extreme than beggaring a nation with energy sabotage and extinguishing the nation with the largest unwanted movement of people in its entire history while insulting their culture and race and history every single day in the media – Nigel is now the main character of British politics.
We only want what’s best for him.
Dunno, to my knowledge Reform didn’t have a presence at the Unite the Kingdom rally and that was a political earthquake. Nigel just seems to be busy making plans for Nigel; the British people just want their country back. Nigel’s just along for the ride now and he’ll get what the people give him. Which, if he doesn’t get his shit together, might be an invitation to get the fuck out of the way.
Reform are (currently) the only option on the ballot if Britain wants to live. The Unite rally was impressive, but until we can turn that into a pro-British majority in Parliament, that energy won’t change anything. Definitely true that Reform needs to deliver or they’ll very quickly be in trouble
It seems to be focused too much on parliamentary games; it really is no good to anyone to fill its ranks with rat Tory traitors. Having the silly bitch who gave us the Online Safety Act isn’t exactly a feather in its cap.
Perhaps there is a future in having Reform/Nigel worried about Restore Britain driving its tanks onto their lawns.
To tie this thread in with the previous one, I sincerely hope Farage/Reform has opened some sort of covert dialogue with the TR faction. The left has long combined the democratic with the extra-democratic to achieve its aims. Part of the reason the pendulum only swings the one way is it can mobilise the extra-democratic to resist. Can put people on the streets to demonstrate & riot if needed. If the right wants to succeed it needs to learn. And it needs its own shock troops.
