The targeting of black and Asian Britons stretches back to well before the current controversy over small boats. From the 60s to the 80s, racism was often explained away as the inevitable result of there being too many immigrants, who were unwanted and didn’t belong. Many suggested that to stop racist abuse and violence we needed to stem immigration and deport black and brown Britons.
Today, apart from those for whom figures such as Enoch Powell remain heroes, few would accept that the way to staunch racism is by indulging racist claims. Half a century on, the character of both racism and immigration has changed, though in complicated ways. Britain is no longer as viscerally racist as it once was, and yet, over the past decade, the language of the far right has seeped into the mainstream, with migrants denounced as “invaders”, calls for mass deportations and laments over “white decline”. This has been justified by pointing to soaring immigration numbers and popular disaffection.
“If we fail to deal with this crisis”, Mahmood told parliament, “we will draw more people down a path that starts with anger and ends in hatred.” The hatred certainly is directed at migrants and at Britons of migrant background. But the anger has been brewing from long before the small boats crisis.
At its root lies the shattering of the postwar social contract and a sense of betrayal as successive governments have failed to address questions of inequality and poverty, of falling living standards and unaffordable housing; a sense of feeling abandoned by political parties and social institutions and of being rendered voiceless.
So the indigenes have been saying for a couple of generations that there’s too much immigration, they’re unhappy about it. But to agree with them is to be wrong – in a democracy, eh? – and it’s all something else entirely.
Ho hum.
.
People are unhappy about attacks on and the erosion of their cultural values. Telling them they are wrong to have such thoughts and branding them as racist is a very effective way of transforming them from people who are merely unhappy into people who are racist.
Unhappy racists.
What are these cultural values?
Whose side were these leftoids on when whitey went to the countries where brown people live?
Oh that’s right, the brown people, the indigenes.
Whitey should get out of their countries and pay them billions in reparations.
Now it’s brown people coming to countries where white people live, the white people, the indigenes, should just shut the fuck up and swallow it.
Progressives – unerringly on the wrong side of history every time.
Except there’s no right/wrong side of history – just the facts of the past, awaiting historical interpretation…
White people forming 0.02% of the population of brown countries, it’s called racist imperialist invader colonisation and they MUST LEAVE! Brown people forming 25% of the population of white countries, WONDERFUL, we want MOAR, it’s racist to complain or even merely notice.
I wonder what these white people think will happen when their imports take control of the government? Its not like anywhere near a majority of these people are third or newer generations, born and raised in UK values.
So when they take control they’re going to do what they would have done if they had control back home.
Which is never good for those that are not part of their group – hence why they had to flee in the first place.
I mean, they’re already getting some rude awakenings over here up in Dearbornistan when the locals, once they took control of government, decided they weren’t going to be accepting of LGBT.
Was quite a shock to the AWFL’s.
You cannot force people to live together with those they don’t want to…
Progressives: “Hold my organic microbrewery craft beer.”
I’ll bet you don’t find many progressive living in the centre of Dewsbury and Rochdale.
They must be celebrating in Tehran the influence they’ve achieved in British politics.
First getting Waheed pally with Blair, then using him to bribe and coerce Blair’s puppet Starmer into appointing a “devout Muslim” as Home Secretary. Now having discerned “racism” as the key word they are using the tired old Blair whip to bring the public to heel after the “Islamophobia” tactic seems to have stalled, to conflate religious disquiet as “racism”. You don’t like hate marches through your cities every weekend? Racist! You don’t like you daughters being gang raped and tortured? Racist! You don’t like your money being taken to elevate lazy primitives’ lifestlyes above yours? Racist!
Don’t they have fables in the Islamic world? No tale of the little boy who cried “Dog!” too often?
Notice that the statement as a whole says the problem all along is that the governmental elite has detached itself from and abandoned the general population and its primary concerns.
There’s no arguing with that.
The implication, however, is that the cause of this is insufficient socialism.
This paragraph made me chuckle – albeit in a ‘shaking the head’ way
‘There are many good reasons for reforming asylum procedures. The previous government effectively stopped processing asylum claims, creating the backlog now fouling up the system. ‘
And of course that has nothing to do with militant left wing lawyers and judges for political reasons alongside, what can only be described as traitors, moving heaven and earth to stop any attempt to deny even ISIS executioners a path to stay here?
‘The use of hotel accommodation, a policy that elicits such fury, is the result not just of this backlog but also of it being more profitable for the private companies tasked with housing migrants. ‘
So what was the alternative – compulsory purchase orders and move the native population into hotels or the street? We know that’s what your goal is but fortunately that might be too forward even for someone such as yourself?
‘that is also why so many asylum seekers are placed in some of the poorest areas in the country and in houses in multiple occupation (HMOs). All this needs resolving, not to mention the need to stop small boat journeys’
So we need to put these new arrivals straight into scarce family homes and to hell with those indigenous people (of whatever race) who are on social housing lists? Additionally we need to roll out the welcome mat. Maybe fast track them through immigration? It’s a shame the Yanks blew up ‘Jihadi John’ – this halfwit would have him fast tracked in.
I do feel that while Reform needs to be circumspect, any government serious about tackling this issue will need to look at the likes of Malik and basically go so far as trying him for treason. There’s really no softer word to describe, what he, and those ideologically aligned to him, are trying to do.
Nathan Gill was Reform leader in Wales. He is now in prison.
Immigration was to provide cheap labour for the State-run industries and State-run public services particularly the NHS. This took away British jobs and low wages pulled down the whole pay scale. People resented this, therefore racism.
Today the idiots still think cheap immigrant labour is good for the economy and will serve the purpose of enforced multiculturalism which is good because “diversity” which is good for “reasons”.
This places a huge burden on public services, housing, culture society, increases serious crime, people reject this = racism.
The solution is remove the cause, don’t blame the effect.
I want them gone. But not my new daughter-in-law, nor my Chinese friends or…Idifficult, this is.
It’s not really difficult. We need to be thorough but there’s no particular need to be racist. It might get racist depending on how much white people continue to be attacked, belittled and denigrated but we can do this the orderly way
* Remove ILR from everyone who has claimed benefits, committed a crime, or gone into “political” activism such as Free Palestine or Just Stop Oil type antisocial behaviors (NB – this is the entire point of ILR, and why it’s called “leave to remain” and not citizenship or right to remain. It’s a privilege, not a right)
* No benefits of any kind for “refugees”, “asylum seekers”, and so on.
* Remove all “refugees “, “asylum seekers” from residential accomodation and put them in special purpose secure facilities whilst we arrange for them to leave
* You don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here.
* Whopping great 50% tax on remittances – reduce the demand side of immigration
* Tax the ever-living fuck out of British employers for hiring migrants or offshoring UK jobs to India. Shift the burden of funding migrants from the taxpayers to greedy employers who claim they *need” imported toilet cleaners from Zambia. Impose a minimum wage for migrant labour set at above the rate at which people become net taxpayers. Jail a few piss-takers such as restaurant owners whose businesses are immigration and VAT scams, pour encourager.
* Aggressively deal with migration “charities” and other organisations abusing their charitable status for ends that harm our society.
We can do all of this without being unpleasant to people on the basis of skin colour.
Simples.
Impose a minimum wage for migrant labour set at above the rate at which people become net taxpayers.
Just that one rule would have a massive effect on migration. My guess? 80-90%.
Everything got messed up because women want their pretend “careers” dressing up and doing nonsense work for government instead of being housewives, looking after Grandad or making cups of coffee.
So: 1) massive spending on worthless degrees 2) massive spending on useless government jobs 3) import of immigrants to do the jobs they should be doing.
Long term, it just isn’t going to work out. We’re headed for the Denis Healey situation.
Yep I’m all for stopping spending on worthless degrees like Timmy’s Third in BSc(Econ) in Accountancy and Finance.
I’ll get in my time machine. I have baby Hitler to deal with first.
So the answer is extreme leftist policies – huge taxes and total government interference in where you can live and what job you have?
It’s great to be white.
We must not elect an extreme right winger as PM of the UK.
Farage has right wing views that are incompatible with modern Britain.
Keep the extreme right wing from power.
How are you going to stop the extreme right gaining power when you couldn’t stop them from bumming you?
>few would accept that the way to staunch racism is by indulging racist claims.
Today, apart from those for whom figures such as Enoch Powell remain heroes, few would accept that the way to staunch racism is by indulging racist claims.
Speech in Parliament – August 2040 (If it survives so long)
“Never was so much owed by so many to so few”
the language of the far
rightleft has seeped into the mainstream, with claims that the migrants are being denounced by the far right as “invaders”What the far right actually say:
“Illegal migrants from France claiming pretendy asylum or just plain sneaking in are “invaders””
The “invaders” claim has not been made about all the other migrant categories.
Vodafone’s so-called “UK Customer Care” for example…
These assertions seem to be evidence free.
How much longer will the commies get traction with ‘racism?’ They have gotten at least 60 years out of it.
When everyone is racist, no one is. And that is where we are.
