We’re all really surprised, right?

He was the youthful banker-president – a supposed liberal, feminist, pro-European foil to strongmen and populists alike.
But Emmanuel Macron has turned the Elysée Palace into “Macholand”, where a tight clique of male aides hold the levers of power while sipping whisky and Bordeaux.

We’d never have thought it.

Macholand: Inside Macron’s ‘boy band’ clique at the Elysée Palace

Thing about boy bands is that they normally screw the groupies not each other.

Is Macron really macho? Or does he defer to his wife in such matters?

The curious thing about Macron is that Brigitte gave up her previous life for him. There have been plenty of bisexual mummy’s boys. Brigitte, and the nature of their dalliances (especially latterly), is the curious bit. Oh, and I’m not convinced that Brigitte is a bloke.

whisky and Bordeaux”

What a horrible combination. I’ll just about forgive whisky and soda but Bordeaux? You might as well drink whisky and Coke.

And even if they once screwed their teachers they nearly always move on.

Indeed. I can imagine Brigitte having been a red-hot turboMILF back in the day, and can understand the mutual attraction. In your late teens a dalliance with a woman a decade or so older than you can be a marvellous thing, as, er, I can attest. What I can’t understand is why they stayed together, with her being old enough to understand the dynamic and end-game.

You can imagine young Brigitte? Got any actual pictures? No, nobody has. Funny that.

Slightly OT but looking through the comments on the Greenland thread this morning got me thinking of how all European & Canadian political leaders seem obsessed by what people think of them, with the exception or Orban & possibly Meloni. Contrasts with The Donald, Putin & Pooh over in China who apparently don’t give a monkey’s

None of those three need to worry about upcoming elections.

It was think of them personally rather than in election terms. They seem to think more about their standing with other Europols etc than they do with their electorates.

The French will survive as long as … hold on, they’ve already lost a metaphorical Second Battle of Tours. They’re doomed. As are we.

I would hope the boy bands aren’t screwing the groupies as the groupies tend to be 13 years old.

But you can be macho in the bathhouse;)
