An outside review of Los Angeles county’s response to January’s deadly wildfires found a lack of resources and outdated policies for sending emergency alerts led to delays in warning residents about the need to evacuate as flames began consuming neighborhoods in Altadena and Pacific Palisades.

Everyone must pay more tax to those who will not clear the underbrush that catches fire – those who will not even allow others to clear the underbrush which catches fire.
Fire chiefs in Lancashire and Yorkshire, and private landowners, have warned the government that banning controlled burns on the moors will lead to larger uncontrolled burns. But the government has ignored them.
The Palisades fire was caused by a DEI fire chief. It was exacerbated by DEI civil servants.

The problem was the fire should have never happened, hence evacuation warnings should never have been needed. They are fixing at the wrong problem. Diverting attention from real problems.
My boyhood home was in the area of the Altadena fire. Up until the 1990s brush clearance was kept up via manual clearance and controlled burns. After that the environmentalists and NIMBYs put a stop to it under the guise of air pollution and endangered species legislation.
Things only got worse under succeeding Democrat administrations. So now you get cataclysmic fires consuming everything. The bureaucratic red tape prevents timely rebuilding. Political interference prevents insurance companies from realistically pricing policies. Homeless policies ensure many more fires occur.
It is sad to see how socialist policies are ruining what use to be an idyllic place to live.

As I’ve moaned about before, in the good old days here in Oz the abos regularly burned off the bush. And bashed the kangaroos on the head as they fled from the smoke and flames.
Now of course the wisdom of the First People is ignored and the environment is protected. Until the regs fail and we have a splendid roaring bushfire.
