She’s the one who thinks they are stupid, but she projects it onto us.

Does Laurie Penny say that? And if you mean by your example that men puffing out their chests and strutting about is “exactly the same” as invasive surgery for the purposes of permanent body modification – well, obviously it isn’t.
I suspect that those who find the subject of breast enhancement humourous probably find penis enlargement surgery equally gigglesome.
