The robots are coming

Or not, as the case may be, to the sex industry:

EUROPE’S first sex robot brothel has been forced to move after real-life prostitutes complained sex dolls were stealing their trade.

Someone’s been reading a bit too much Jessica or Amanduh:

Janet, a prostitute with over 30 years in the industry, who works in the city’s Raval district said: “It is another strategy of the patriarchy that presents us as objects without rights or soul. A privilege of the wealthy classes.”

Eh?

“Prostitutes who work in the city with Aprosex – the Association of Sex Professionals – objected saying a doll cannot match the services of a real person…”

Hmmm, I wonder..?

“Cashiers who work in the supermarkets with USDAW – the Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers – objected saying a machine cannot match the services of a real person on the till..”

Well, I dunno. The machines don’t ignore me while they chat to other machines, act puzzled over a single bakery product they can’t identify, or place my change on top of a receipt in that annoying way.

Maybe robot prossies have their good aspects as well?

Christ you would have to be hard up to patronise someone who had been in the business for 30 years.

So check out machines are to cashiers as robo-whores are to wives?

You are assuming all customers are youngish blokes. My experience here in Thailand is that the eighty year old blokes think the fifty year old birds are just nicely run in.

Excellent. Men are accused of “objectifying” women so they create artefacts without rights or souls as substitutes and are pilloried again for the same offence.

What an Alice Through the Looking Glass world where you have to run very, very fast to remain in the same place.

Barcelona, eh? Has Bloke in Spain been busy with his welding torch and soldering iron?

I don’t get it. You would think the feminists would be happy. Men would be busy treating their Maria Robopova doll as the sex object it is. And then they would have time to listen to women talk about all the things women are interested in without trying to get them into bed.

Seems a win-win to me.

Not likely. I recall a recent article about feminists protesting how men treated Siri, because misogyny etc. It was written by Amanda Marcotte I think…

I demand that Ms Marcotte respect the relationship I have with my Scarlett Robohansson doll. BDSM may not be for everyone but it is a totally legitimate sexual preference.[1] On what possible ground does anyone have to criticise what we do in the privacy of my own shed? Best of all, I don’t need consent with a robot, but if I did, we could be sure that the consent was not coerced, tricked or bullied out of her. Because, of course, she was programmed that way.

How is Scarlett’s consent any less than hers?

[1] Actually it is a little odd as BDSM relationships go as it involves cosplay, the use of language and roll playing. Basically she dresses up in an apron, calls herself Mrs Subtlety and cooks my dinner. As I said, it is not for everyone but it is a valid lifestyle choice damn it!

A) Feminists are never happy, because men, and

B) If men are getting their rocks off with robo-whores, they have little interest in listening to most women spout their usual nonsense.

I wouldn’t. If they were happy, they’d hardly be feminists.

I chose the male voice for Siri. Amanduh is aware one can do that, isn’t she?

So would a robo-brothel be legal in London?

Not selling sex. Innit.

There aren’t many women we’d listen to if we weren’t at least thinking of trying to get them into bed.

The only problem that might arise is that blokes might be reluctant to send their robot away to be serviced.

@TMB

Why would that be a problem? You’d just hire another one for the week.

perhaps I should have written “serviced”, incl. scare quotes?

So me rolling my car window down and demanding a blow job for a tenner would make me a feminist would it?

Would the robot respond to cunnilingus or provide fellatio? How about 69? Would the robots be cleaned and disinfected after use? Asking for a friend.

Rather better cleaned than the fleshies would be.
